1615: Rabi Kanna just arrived to the hall. Seated in front of the Assyrian and Swedish flags.
-------
- There is no peace within the parliament in Iraq. Theres a lot of division in regards to the way the government work. How the resources will be distributed and used. Its not just about Sunni vs Shiaa that is the problem in Iraq, but rather it is also ethnic with Kurds and Arabs.
- Because of this division, 16 "wazereh" have dropped out of the election. they can't put new ones in because they dont have the confidence vote to put them in. Nobody is helping out.
- No confidence vote is given to Al-Malaki. There is no common agreement within the parliament as to who would replace Al-Malaki. This division "qitra" is the reason why he is still there.
- Those against Al-Malaki are Shia and the Sadr party. They don't want malaki and want a shia state. Sunni are also against him (they have 44 seats). Alawi's group is also against him. But when it comes to who would replace him, they can't decide which is the reason why Malaki is still there.
-------
- American government does not want to have a role in Iraq by 2008.
- Kurds have a huge role with the change within Iraq. There will be major announcements/political changes within the next 2 months.
- Infrastructure is hit hard as a result of the divisions.
- Oil, authority, and land claims (kirkuk, nineveh plains) are under debate. Where do they belong? To whom do they belong? Kurds claim theirs and are working hard in parliament to obtain it through the Kurdish coalition.
-----------
- Reconciliation; the old regime seeks centralization, the new regime wants equal representation. as a result, the mentality is creating division and harming the reconciliation. This has nothing to do with Shia vs Sunni, they have their own agenda; an Islamic state.
- Member of a commission (spoke arabic didn't understand). There was a division that they refused to remember the umta in past history of Iraq, division with opinion of marriage (if a male or female Assyrian marries a Muslim, they must convert). They want our plans to go ahead in Nineveh Planes.
[OK I'm having a hard time understanding him. He speaks too much Arabic with his Assyrian. Theres a mix in the two!]
- American government did not build a solid Police and Army for Iraq up till 2006. They recently corrected this and have since (past 10 months) bult one up. They have been working together for peace to try to stop the terrorist and saddam loyalists and has resulted in greater peace in Baghdad.
- Peace will not come by force, it will come by will. Without peace there is no hope. Theres a lot of corruption. We are trying our best to attack the corruption and end it. If our police and militias work together, the terrorists will not prevail and we will put an end to them.
----------------------------
- We were 1.3 million but now we are at no more than 650,000 Assyrians in Iraq. This did not happen because we were Assyrian. Although that was one small reason, another reason for this, was our religion. This brought us the most harm.
- Mosul and Baghdad (Dora) are where Assyrians are hit hard. Zowaa is trying hard to bring peace and harmony within the Iraq as a whole. Hitting hard to EU and American governments to help bring us aid and attention since they are really unable to do it themselves as there are only 10 of them representing 300,000(?) while there are 2 mil Arabs [not sure what he was saying here].
- Seeking aid both financial and food/medicine to supply the refugees to bring them some hope and comfort. Either give them the food, or give them the money to buy their own supplies.
----------------------
- There is division within our Assyrian nation. Everyone wanting to take the Assyrians to work for them and take them for their own. Zowaa, since 2003, has tried to bring us together under one name to lead us to be identified as one people. This was agreed in October. It was not done by Zowaa, it was done by all political organizations as well as the Churches. Those same organizations that worked to bring it together, they all broke out.
- Zowaa is again attempting to bring all the political parties together to work together and work ahead as a united coalition for a stronger and more united front to bring us our rights as well as security and peace for Assyrians.
- Open discussions right now are with ADM and ADO, and ADM with the Chaldean Democratic (organization?) to bring them together and to work as a united front.
--------------------------
- There are people that are currently trying to make our nation wood for others to burn. The talk about Nineveh Planes being our own independent nation is one such method.
- The region is about 6000 km/sq. There are 3 major people in this region. 25% of them Are Assyrian. Shabak are 25%. Yezidi are 20% and arab/kurds/turkoman make up the rest. We are too small to split it and make it our own region in terms of religious basis neither can we separate it on ethnic basis since it is a very mixed region.
--------------------------
- Spoke about us having an administrative body and our own court (minus appeal court) and having our own police force it is in the draft constitution. But because of the rising demand for Nineveh Planes independence, it is causing the fanatical Sunni, and Shia to harm this effort.
- We have no secrets. Once any work is attempted at being done, it is almost immediately posted on the internet or spread elsewhere harming the efforts. Those against us will use this information against us. US and Western governments are able to keep their secrets. While we let it out in 24 hrs, they keep theirs for 24 years! It needs to change.
- UNO helping to rebuild Assyrian villages. A little late, but it started.
- Heavy inflation in Iraq. What was once a house for 20,000 is now 200,000. Rent has also sky rocketed. The costs are extremely high. There is a monopolization of businesses in the region. There is not a free market. Businesses in the region (north) are also not very stable.
- 186 villages have been destroyed since Saddam's region to this day.
- Our neighbors need to respect the peoples will. If they choose a mayor, it will be him. They must not bring one in by force because of his/hers political affiliation. Put those that are qualified to run the positions.
- A lot of power abuse in all Iraq.
