I'll still call it (and I'm fine with) Iraq, but I understand those who opt for "Occupied Assyria". So I guess I'm "meh" on this subject.

Why? Only because ONLY the northern half of Iraq was ours as our history went. Sumer area in the south is debatable and questionable as I personally don't identify with Sumerians.

Yes, Iraq is occupied Assyria, and in some ways, Saddam was sort of an Assyrian ruler, I mean he was Sunni Iraqi after all and modern Iraq is the first time in millennia since Mesopotamia was unified under one ruler, and what a disappointment Iraq is for the legacy of Ashur, Sumer and Akkad.

That said, we should not recognize Iraq, as Iraq doesn't represent us as a people, culture, language, religion or anything really, other than that it occupies Assyria and also a region that was highly important to and valued by our ancestors, namely, Babylonia (Sumer and Akkad). Any Assyrian who identifies as an Iraqi, is completely clueless on how anti-Assyrian Iraq has always been. It's also embarrassing to identify with Iraq, I mean, it's yet another failed state and a shithole country; why would any Assyrian in his right mind want to identify with that? Have some self-respect!
