It is generally known that most people, if asked, are fans of Brazilian and PSG midfielder Lucas Moura and want Dunga to include him in the NT. Personally, I hardly ever watch his games in the French league, since they don't have any TV coverage here in Canada and I don't bother to look for their games online.
Yesterday, I had some time so I started looking for his highlights on Youtube and I was absolutely amazed by his dribbling and quick runs.
Watching him, I couldn't help but think: this kid must be one of the top Brazilian dribblers of the last 10-15 years. He is just so confident and smooth his in his dribbling. Heck, comparing him to our best Brazilian at the moment, even Neymar doesn't look as confident in comparison (obviously there is more to this comparison which I won't go into detail here)
That got me thinking: if Lucas Moura is so talented and considered probably one of top 5 dribblers in the world, why the hell is he not a regular on the NT? Never mind the NT, why is he not a regular on PSG (as far as I know, he is not)? He has been playing for both (NT and PSG) for close to 3 years now, and he has yet to cement a starting position. Could it have more to do with his soccer performance and more to do with his low key and passive personality? I really think it has to do with the latter (personality) and less to do with performance. He just comes off as shy, not feisty or pushy enough. I am not suggesting he should have a shi'tty personality like Diego Costa, but at least to be like Neymar, who is flashy and goes for what he wants.
He is only 23, still way to go before he reaches his peak. It would be a big loss for such a talent to just fade and not do much with his career. I understand he has already won a few titles with PSG as well as the Brazilian NT. But it is time he moved to a better team in Europe. This is already his third year with PSG and that is more than enough. A move to Spain would be the best, to a coach that actually appreciates his talent and what he has to offer. But it is not just up to the coach. Lucas himself, as discussed earlier, needs to be more direct and demanding. He needs to show some hunger both on and off the field. There are a lot of players who don't have a fraction of his skills, and still make it to the starting lineup, simply due to their personality and showing hunger.
