Who likes rock/ anything other than hip hop?

Ok, I love rock and I think its the greatest genre of music.  However my family( cousins, brother, and close friends) are so hip hopped out, its just ridiculous.  They think I'm a weirdo, and that rock is like death, suicide, kill people music.  I find that ironic because most "rappers" brag in their music about shooting people, stabbing people, robbing people, beating people etc.  Why do they think this? it f'n pisses me off.  It really seems to me that assyrians ONLY like hip hop and RNB.

I do not understand how people can think guns n roses, and other bands alike are about committing suicide and killing people.  Whats wrong with them?

Anyways... who likes rock here?

i love rock music, i really got into in my last year of uni but i also like the r&b and other music from dance to house to the ratpack etc :mrgreen:

no, shes just talking out of her ass.

BUT.

Yesterday night her bro jacked her ipod and she was crying for it. So I grabbed mine, and blasted rock music and started going crazy. She got extremely jealous and at that point she began kicking me. Owned!

I like Progressive Metal and Symp[honic metal. Sometimes I like to listen to Slipknot etc as well.
For Rock I am big fan of Bad Religion.

Rock is a good genre, not the best. But it's certainly much more preferable to me than hip-crap is.

Assyrians have a rap/hip hop fetish and I don't get it.
 
I like soft rock and listen to it occasionally on FM radio. Real rock, while not a big fan, do have bands and sings I like.
 
That is odd! I don't listen to hip-hop and don't know anyone who does.. 60/70s rock (and other sub-variations)... I've been the chief influencer in my extended family (and friends) when it comes to music, movies, and stand-up... I would burn hundreds of CDs and give them away. When one would let me know what they liked (or didn't like), I could better steer them into the direction of their liking.. But, my family pretty much listens to a variation of what I listen to. Now, I make thumb drives of 5,000 mp3s :)


Pink Floyd, The Doors, Supertramp, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Steely Dan, David Bowie, Chicago, Black Sabbath, ELO, Curved Air, etc
Lots of 70s prog rock with female vocals.
