We Need New Singers

Well I take it back we do have professional Assyrian CD
AKITU by Walter Aziz
Recorded in Turkey by Turkish musicians.I  have this CD and its better than many NOKHRAYEH CDS

http://walteraziz.com/photos/album/akitu-project/

OGIN bet samo's last cd "donyan khata" is a wonderful album with a variety of instruments, great lyrics, and wonderful melodies

shlimon bet shmuel is also an artist/musician that aways produces good must and good lyrics.

I have to say, I completely agree with you. Actually, I was thinking about that the other day. I would like to sing, but it's just a matter of who to go to, where to start.   :)

   You should be a singer!

I dont see what the problem is with wat we have at the moment.... for the minority of assyrians there are in the world, I think we're doing a pretty damn good job of keeping up with assyrian singers...yes, it would be nice for ppl to buy more of their albums and yes it would be amazing to have more new singers...but u guys are comparing assyrians to arabic singers (which there is more of a population of ) ... its not fair....there is a fraction of assyrian speaking people to the amount of arabic speaking ppl...its retarded to even compare.

and as far as not having enough singers....heres a list of some popular ones.... which i think is pretty damnnn good...

Evin
Janan
Sargon
Linda
Juliana
Ashur
Johnny Talia
BulBul
Lazar Malko
Tony Gabriel
Gilyana Toma
Julie Yousif
Ramsen Sheeno
Ramiz
Talal  Graish
Sargon Youkhana
Ninos David
Emmanouel Bet Younan
Lida Lawando
Shabeh Lawando

And yah...some are more popular than others....but thats everywhere..... I DOOO think we should have more new singers....but based on the amount of ppl that actually ARE assyrian and actually LISTEN to assyrian....i think we're doing okay.

And for those of you that say the younger generation doesnt listen to it ... ur wrong.... i can name a LOT of poepole under 21 that listen to assyrian music.....

Just my 2 cents...  :wavetowel:

WALTER AZIZ        who created pop music for us Assyrians

Azziza AssyrianPrince21,

You seem to miss the point which is as a nation we have not created singers for over 30 years. From your list the top tier singers are in thier early 50's. The others are I consider second to third tier.

For over 30 years we have been listening to Evin, Linda, Jinan, Ashur and Sargon. We are in 2007 and these top 5 command the most money and get the most booking (except Ashur). Who from you list (Name me 5) you see can be the up and coming superstars.

Our music is frankly lifeless without new bloob to rejuvanate it.

           Sonia Odisho

Johnny Talia                Adonee Odisho
Ramsen Sheeno            Warda Sliwoo
Talal Graish                  Rani Kareem

* Albert Ninwaya

Ash thats my uncle and he has a good voice and im not saying it cause thats my uncle but he really does its fresh.

and we do have young singers we have Gaggi he's really good  Homeh Lazar, Talal, Ramsen, We have a lot of these young singers are from sweden and france and the rest of Europe. but we do have a lot of very good singers, the only thing is the top 5 need to make room for others.

I'm having my uncle singing at my wedding.

Ashoor i still need to send u his CD's so u can add him to the music section. i have them done their just sitting in m room :/

Seriously guys?

No youngster?

Munathel Tomika (The next Janan Sawa)
Yousip Eliya (Janan Sawa's 2nd cousin)
Ramsen Sheeno
Talal Graish

Phillip William (Sounds like Sargon Gabriel)
Warda Sliwa
Two bazi singers! =]

Tony Gabriel

All excellent singers. I think we're doing fine..

I think the idea that Ashuriena brought up of iranian singers is bad, I have friends and relatives in LA, they are mad as heck because we Iraqis cant understand them. Our language is Assyrian not Persian. Plus, if they wanted to bring someone who sings, why not Chris Daniel? I have seen that guy sing in LA, and he sings pretty well. I think we need to create a new generation of singers for our own generation, but also to get rid of this stupid village thing. It's like the Chaldo thing here with Telkepi and non-Telkepi ppl. This is division, we oughtta avoid it.

Talal Graish
Tony Gabriel
Johnny Talia
Sargon Youkhanna (absolutely love this guy's voice)

These guys are somewhat young and new aren't they? And they are doing well and getting themselves known within the community with only one or two cd's out for each.

If I do a survey I promise you 1 out of 10 Assyrian youths actually listens to Assyrian music.

Assyriska

I beg to differ.

I can honestly say that 90% of the youth here in SJ LOVES Assyrian music. And not just the main singers that everyone knows, but even various unknown artists around the world.

I will, however, agree that its not where we would like it to be, but you can find plenty of young Assyrians who like the music.
