Where ever website l go l see we are called assyrians, not arameans nowadays. I think we might be united in about 10 years or maybe even earlier, lets say 5 years. The so called arameans-assyrians are a minority now. Most of them probably search the internet to find out about their history and the look at wikipedia, and what you see, ASSYRIANS! Even the swedish wikipedia article says we are the descendants of the assyrians and mesopotamians. EVerybody l know except for maybe 2 people say they are the descendants of the assyrians, the other 2 says arameans. I myself called myself aramean and didnt see eachother as the same people but after searching on the internet and talking to other people l find out we are the same people, l mean we even look like each other. And l also find out that l am assyrian and not aramean. I am also happy to say that the assyrian people are educating others that their real history is assyria and not aramea. The reason why arameans want to believe they are arameans must be because 1. they havent searched on the internet for their history and their parents says they are the descendants of the arameans, 2. they want to call their language aramiac and not assyrian to be close to jesus and because they are super religious and they think the churchfathers were scienteist when most of them said we are arameans, for example ephrem the syrian, he called assyria a bastard, but they werent scientest ,they didnt know. Michael the great who lived in the middle ages said we are assyrians for example. These are the reasons why l think we are not united.

So as said probably in about 5-10 years we might find unity among the most of us, the remaining people that call themselves arameans, let them call themselves arameans, the majority call themselves assyrians and that is the most important thing.
 
Whether Ephrem was Assyrian or Aramean, I don't know. Ephrem was born in Nisibin which was an Assyrian city at his time. Interestingly enough, Ephrem exclusively wrote in Syriac alphabet AND dialect, not Western Aramaic.

Secondly, just because Ephrem was Aramean or not doesn't mean that the entire church would be Aramean. Assyrian Church of the East had Persian and Turkish patriarchs, does that make the Assyrian Church of the East as Persian or Turkish?

But the thing is just as today patriarchs , there were no different in those times, they were all bible readers and not scientist , they just didnt know. Michael the great knew that we were both arameans and assyrians, the rest just didnt know.
 
aramnahrin.org is a very popular site that "Arameans" use to back up their claims. Much of the evidence on this site is either taken out of context or from Church leaders who want to impose their false Aramean identity. Someone or a group of people who know their history very well should disprove all the false claims on this website and compile it all into maybe a book or a new website.

Actually, now that I think about it, there is already a website which disproves many claims used by these fake Arameans - http://www.assyrians.n.nu/

Its in swedish and they said that the churchmen believed in the bible about how mesoptamia was to be, for example, aram was brother to ashur etc. And that they believed in that since they were children and not to belive in that was awful for them, and not many could read and write at those times so they were the leaders. They were not scientist and they didnt know that is what they said.
 
Arameans are Western Aramaic-speaking peoples from west Levant (in around Lebanon). I wouldn't call them Assyrian. And it's pretty foolish for an Assyrian to call themselves an "Aramean". What does a person originating from Northern Mesopotamia have to do with those in the eastern Mediterranean area?  :blink:
