Toronto, we have finally done it, after 19 year wait

Toronto Maple Leafs have finally done it and won a playoff series after 19 year drought. Wild2-1 OT win over the Tampa Bay Lightning to take the series 4-2.

The Maple Leafs have missed the playoffs a total of 10 times, amade the playoffs eight times, and lost in the first round seven of those eight times.

Most famous was 10 years ago, when they were playing the Boston Bruins in game 7 of the first round: the Leafs took a commanding 4-1 lead, only for them to lose it and let Boston come back and win 5-4 in OT. That loss remains one of their worst losses ever and has been haunting since, whether they played the same team or others.

And it gets better: Toronto won’t have to face the Boston Bruins in the second round, thank god!

The Bruins lose to the Panthers in OT 4-3, despite being up 3-1 both in this game and in the series overall. Yet they let the Panthers come back in both categories.

What is interesting is that Boston set in an NHL record with 65 wins and 135 points in the regular season but are now out in the first round. 10 year s later, they get a taste of what they did to the Toronto Maple Leafs by coming from 3–1 deficit to beat the Leafs 5-4 in OT!
