Came across this interesting list of top 11 to never win the WC.

Would you swap any players? Does Neymar fit here? 0A3DFA18-C5E8-4C82-ABC8-002B0E54189D.jpeg

Kahn out, Lev Yashin in (I would have though this was an obvious one but it may depend on the age of whoever put this together).

Modric out, Socrates in (though Modric has been a wonderful player)

Terry (This must be a joke surely) Out, Kuznetsov (USSR), Baresi (Italy), Bossis (France), Forster (West Germany), Adams (England) just off the top of my head would be better replacements.

Koeman was one of my all time favourite players growing up (perhaps 2nd to Bebeto) but I loved him for his free kicks and thunderbolt shots. Baresi was a better defender/sweeper.

Van Basten was an awesome player but only shone at Euro88 and for Ajax and AC Milan before his injury. Did nothing special at Italia90 and wasn't much better in Euro92. George Best and George Weah ahead of him though in the case of George Best, it may be something to do with the age of who put this together. Mind you the 2 Georges never played in a World Cup due to being from nations which have little chance of qualifying. Van Basten played in the Serie A at the same time as Klinnsmann (a world cup winner) and Careca. All 3 strikers were great additions to their club sides but I don't think anyone was better than the other. Not that it should determine things but in 1991 when there was the Serie A v English Premier league match (players of any nationality, representing their league), Careca was given his usual number 9 and van Basten was given number 11. This could be an endless debate about the striker.

Sorry Ashoor, but Neymar is not at that level when it comes to great players of the past and present. He has not dominated an international tournament and he has (aside from his time at Santos), barely achieved anything for his club side and stood out as their best player in the way that Maradona did with Argentina and Napoli. In fact, I think history will be unkind to Neymar once he retires, because unlike players such as Maradona, Neymar always had great team mates and still didn't manage to win anything outside of Santos in his early years.
