I got this from a friend today.

TODAY WHILE YOU WERE BUSY
.
.

Today while you were busy
Hurling abusive names,
An Assyrian family was massacred
And a church went up in flames.

Today while you were busy
Encouraging trouble and strife,
An Assyrian received a gunshot wound
And now he fights for life.

Today while you were busy
Cheering for your team,
Assyrians were being tortured
Listen! ? hear them scream.??

Today while you were busy
Pointing the finger of blame,
Bodies were being buried
In trenches - with no name.

Today while you were busy
Making your opinions heard,
An Assyrian child was kidnapped
And will live life as a Kurd.

Today while you were busy
Planning your next attack,
That Assyrian boy you promised to help
Had a knife put through his back.

Today while you were busy
Building castles in the sky,
That Assyrian girl who cried for help
Was raped and left to die.

Today while you were busy
Throwing insults far and wide,
An Assyrian family begged for food
While a father sat and cried.

Today while you were busy
Wishing death upon your own,
An Assyrian baby was born with disease
Prognosis!! ? still unknown.

Today while you were busy
Rejoicing a nations sorrow,
An Assyrian mother was mourning
For the child she will bury tomorrow.

Today while you were busy
Raising money to fight each other,
An Assyrian girl was selling herself
To feed her younger brother.

You call yourselves compassionate
What hypocrites you are,
You wound your brother - and do not stop
Until you leave a scar.

You rejoice at someone?s sorrow
You find comfort in their pain,
How heartless you have all become
What do you have to gain?.

You wish ill upon each other
Revenge is what you seek,
If you are so called ?Christians?
Then turn the other cheek.

How can you help this nation?
When hate is all you breed,
If you cannot band together
Then give up and concede.

You are not each other?s enemies
Why do you act as such?,
This public humiliation
Is becoming all too much.

Yes, today while you were busy
Devising your next plan,
Your country was swept from under you
Welcome to KURDISTAN!!

Wow! Awesome! I love it!

Straight to the point and no BS. Thats my kind of poem!

I am not sure who wrote it, but I love also. It makes you think why we are doing what we are doing. Why isn't there someone (higher authority) telling us what is right from wrong.

Who wrote it anyway? They deserve credit for their work.

W. Gabriel Dinkha.  I'm not sure what her first name is, but I know that she is a woman.  It was originally posted on The Mesopotamian Forum.

lately the meso has just turned out to be another hate forum like bndp sometimes there are little gems like this though. I logged on and posted as soon as i read that poem, if someone asks me where i stand in regards to the recent events that have captivated our nation i will just send them that poem. I also made the mistake of thinking it was male who wrote it. Ive read it 8 times already love every word.

Biji Kurdistan  :giggle:

Just beautiful; I absolutely loved this poem and I'm going to forward it to as many people I know.

can i ask something? id love to find out how many people that have critized the church of the east, are actually church goers?

i bet there will be a correlation.

other than that, a very good poem, very nationalistic. could someone help me discover if this person attends at the church of the east?

thanks. God bless Assyria.

If someone doesn't attend the Church of the East it doesn't necessarily mean they can't form a valid opinion on the matters within that church. Actually, some people stopped attending the church when this whole crisis started, because they wanted to remove themselves from yet another distraction. During mass everything remained the same, but during personal sermons by the priests and bishops, the tone and ideas changed. It became about a "fight," and it became about which side was more virtuous and more faithful (either to the church/eeta itself, or the religion/deena). Some people just couldn't bare to listen to it anymore, regardless of the "side" they may or may not have chosen to support.

You'd have to be blind to not see how much this church situation has screwed our nation. No, we aren't saying it's the only cause of our problems, because obviously we have many causes for our divisions, and division was not a new thing to us before this scandal. But, it does happen to be the situation with which most of us in Diaspora have concerned ourselves. That itself shows how much these recent events have affected our nation's priorities and objectives.

As well, there is a group of Assyrians who will still attend the COE without subsequently supporting all of its actions (the actions of all of its leaders and officials). They will go to church because it's their home, it's tradition, and it's what feels right to them, but that doesn't mean they don't internally criticize the church. Do they do it externally? Probably not. Most likely, there is a correlation between people who criticize the church and don't attend, why? It's only logical. Many people stop attending because of a problem, and then they feel more free to criticize. It isn't difficult to see that our Assyrian institutions don't take criticism easily, and doing it WITHIN church is hardly ever encouraged. People leave or don't attend so they can speak without being ridiculed and called traitors, there's your correlation.

I don't want this to turn into yet another church topic, but just to answer your question -- yes, I was a faithful member of the ACOE until recently.  Born and raised, married and had my kids baptized in it.

I dont think that poem was aimed at a particular side rather all Assyrians on both sides of the fence
its what makes it a great poem I don't think its an attack or they are criticizing a group, church etc.

I don't feel like looking for it, but someone said that it is a slap in the face to all of us and I couldn't agree more.

yeah defiantly, it makes you think about how we have acted and treated each other for the past two years.
A time for reflection and God welling closure to this mess.
