Thinking of converting to Buddhism.

Buddhism is a nontheistic religion that encompasses a variety of traditions, beliefs and practices largely based on teachings attributed to Siddhartha Gautama, who is commonly known as the Buddha, meaning "the awakened one".

He is recognized by Buddhists as an awakened or enlightened teacher who shared his insights to help sentient beings end their suffering through the elimination of ignorance and craving by way of understanding and the seeing of dependent origination and the Four Noble Truths, with the ultimate goal of attainment of the sublime state of Nirvana, by practicing the Noble Eightfold Path (also known as the Middle Way).

Each rebirth takes place within one of five realms according to Theravadins, or six according to other schools.

Naraka beings: those who live in one of many Narakas (Hells);
Preta: sometimes sharing some space with humans, but invisible to most people; an important variety is the hungry ghost;
Animals: sharing space with humans, but considered another type of life;
Human beings: one of the realms of rebirth in which attaining Nirvana is possible;
Asuras: variously translated as lowly deities, demons, titans, antigods; not recognized by Therav?da (Mahavihara) tradition as a separate realm;
Devas including Brahmas: variously translated as gods, deities, spirits, angels, or left untranslated.

Buddhism is a complex religion with very good morality in it.

If more Assyrians convert to other faiths then our neighbors won't be able to classify us as Christian Iraqis/Syrians/Kurds/etc.

There are sadly plenty of Assyrian Buddhists in LA. Dominic can move to LA and establish the first Sureth speaking Buddhist Temple and our Assyrian people will look even stranger, in the eyes of others as if they haven't already done enough things to make themselves look strange and heterodox, especially when an ACOE Deacon refers to himself and the parishioners of the church as Iranians -- we all have to live in shame because of one man's shameful words and deeds. This is so sad.

There are a few here in LA and they are quite rich. However, I can maybe get a few Assyrian guys to drive you down to Hacienda Heights and you can visit the mother ship, Hsi Lai Temple. Tell the good Chinese businessmen who own entire shopping centers in Monterey Park and Westminster and worship at Hsi Lai that you want to build an Assyrian speaking Fo Guang Shan and maybe they will lend you the cash buy you will need at least 100K down.

Amazing!

But I forgot to tell you that I'm only 15 and live in Australia lol, but I promise you that I will make a Assyrian Buddhist temple when I'm older I have been planning to go to America for a really long time.

Plus their is three sects in Buddhism, which one would he do?

At least you are only 15, because Assyrian Buddhists were all converting after age 35 mostly due to being tired of their irreligious life. When you turn 18, come to America as a religious worker and you will get entitlements after 1 year since you don't need a sponsor. Mahayana is the more radical sect which Assyrian Buddhists tend to practice while Theravada Buddhism is more realistic. Even Assyrian Christians in LA look at Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th and reigning Dalai Lama, as a hero.

Fair point haha i'm part of the Assyrian Church of the East so I wouldn't have that problem.

We're the same age and from the same city, how do we not know each other?!

Are you from Fairfield or around there?

haha is it nice over there? Just have a look at Buddhism and see how it is and weigh your options up.

Heck even go to the Assyrian Church of the East, maybe they will change your mind
