This maybe so but when I was down there, I was told that the "Aramean/Suryoyo/Syriac" organizations, including members of the clergy, had organized several meetings to "Stop the Assyriska movement". They came together to devise plans that would basically stop the Assyrians in anything they were doing. Anything being both political as well as non-political matters.
Yes, there are some of them, but just SOME. The most are neutral.
E.g. here in Germany is a federation with the name HSA (huyodo suryoyo d almanya) http://www.suryoye-deutschland.de/ They make no differances between our names.
Or in the case of Mor Gabriel - there is a workgroup with the name "Aktion Mor Gabriel." http://www.aktionmorgabriel.de/?page_id=34
This group consist of Assyrian, Sur

oyo and Aramean thinking organisations/federations and they work together in the case of Mor Gabriel.
I know some of the organisatiors and they say that they (most of the organisations/federations) want to work in future together, too, they would like to build a kind of parliament of our people in Germany.
And I can give you much more examples.

I was also at a few Assyriska matches in Sweden (I missed the Syrianska match). There were Syrianska fans at the game for no other reason but to instigate fights. The Zelge fans paid them no attention and they were taken away pretty quickly but thats how they are. They are out there trying to start problems.
During the Derby's they are constantly damaging the stadium and throwing objects and insults towards Assyriska fans. Hooliganism at its finist. Bare in mind however that not all the fans are Syriac/Suryoyo. There are a few Swedes on both sides also participating in the hooliganism.
Are Assyriska fans all good? No. Not at all. Its the soccer culture. But when you are constantly being sworn at, objects thrown at you, and your people's flag being disrespected and destroyed, unless you're an Assyrian from North America, you will get REALLY pissed off and want to kick someones ass!
You forgot to add one thing. When I was down there, I was warned NOT to go into a particular mall because it was the "Syrianska Mall". Most of the shops were owned by them. I still went in there with my Assyriska hat though

I have never received so many odd stares in my life. I thought they were going to jump me right there.
Another story was when we were walking in Downtown Sodertalje and we passed the "Syrianska Pub". Yes no Assyriska fans or just plain Assyrians can go in there. As we passed it, wearing our Assyriska jersey's, all we heared were swearing and them spitting. We passed them and entred the "Assyriska Cafe" lol Where no Syrianska or Syriac people go.
To think that all Syriac or Assyrian thinking people are hooligains is crazy.
And what do you expect ?
Do you think that normal Syriac or Assyrian thinking persons go to Malls of Hooligains ?
And if normal Syriac thinking ppl go to Syriac Hooligain Malls and normal Assyrian thinking ppl go to Assyrian Hooligain Malls than just because they don´t want stress with others.
That´s normal, nobody wants stress.

After all that, we here in the west still don't see the Western Assyrians as just that, Assyrians. We still force them to lable themselves as Syriac or Syriani even though they themselves call themselves Assyrian. It just pisses me off to see the ignorance Assyrians Church of the East members have.
That´s absolutely true. This is one of the arguments of the hardcore Syriacs.
And there are also many eastern Assyrians (Assyrian thinking ppl) in Germany who are so uneducated like this Syriac thinking ppl.
They just call themselves Assyrians because their parents do it. And they do it because their church has the name Assyrian.
So they do the same thing like the Syriac thinkin ppl, call themselves like the name of their church.
And some of them want to show that they know they are Assyrians because they know the history but they don´t know so much like they say.
And the Syriac thinkin ppl do the same.
They just know some quotes of some old churchmans (e.g. Mor Afrem Suryoyo) and they think they are professors, too.
So what can we expect from a discussion about our names if there is such a low level on both sides ???
