At 90 year old, the great Mario Zagallo, is the only remaining member of the legendary 1958 Brazil team, a team that saw the debut of a 17 year old legend named Pele!

Zagallo has won the World Cup 4 different times in different roles: as a player twice (1958, 1962) as a coach (1970) and as an assistant manager in 1994.

I would like to think I had nothing to do with it, but today we got the sad news that the legend Zagallo has passed away! :/

Rest in Peace king, arguably the second most influential figure in Brazilian soccer after Pele.

Amazing timing for your original post. He made history as being the first man to win the world cup as a player and later as a coach. If you include his role as assistant coach in 1994, he had a role in 4 World Cup triumphs.

Amazingly, the first man to ever captain a world cup winning team and later coaching them to a world cup, Franz Beckenbauer died a few days after him.

I don't know if you have the TUBI app on your android TV but I have been watching a series called 'Football's Biggest Stage" but the deaths of these 2 men along with other footballing deaths recently, made me start watching it. So much on Zagallo and Beckenbauer (and other charismatic personalities from the world of football). I highly recommend watching the series.
