The Cult of Personality

Interesting Reading!!!!!!!!!!!

There are other disturbing similarities. Like Hitler and Khomeini, Obama also likes to create a cult of personality around himself. As stated above, when a large number of a population is discontent, a charismatic leader can seize the opportunity and present himself as the agent of change. He can create a cult of Personality by associating himself with the idea of change. He convinces everyone that things are terrible and a drastic change is needed. He then casts himself as the only person who can deliver this revolutionary transformation that everyone is waiting for. He portrays himself as a the only one who cares about people and their needs and can pull them out of their alleged misery. In reality, they have no clue about how to address the problem - have no experience, no track record. But they are convincing because they are self assured.
These revolutionary leaders need foes. They exaggerate the problems. They make everything look gloomy. They lie, cheat and slander their opponents while casting themselves as the saviors of the nation. Hitler chose the Jews to blame for everything that was wrong in Germany. Khomeini made the Shah and his westernization plans his scapegoats. Obama has chosen President George W. Bush to smear. He can rally people around himself, as long as he can instill in them the dislike of Bush and equate his rival, McCain to him. Sigmund Freud wrote, ?It is always possible to bind together a considerable number of people in love, so long as there are other people left over to receive the manifestations of their aggressiveness? (Civilization and Its Discontents).
A cult of personality is excessive adulation, admiration and exaltation of a charismatic leader, often with unproven merits or achievements. It is similar to hero worship except that it is created specifically for political leaders

Oh I get it now.  If Obama is elected we'll be just months away from him rounding up all the George W. Bush or John McCain supporters and executing them en masse.

These comparisons are stupid.

Is there a link to that retarded piece?  Comparing Obama to Hitler, yeah that makes a lot of sense  :bangin:  I can point out all the lunacy in that stupidity, but it's just too easy.  Anyone who believes that is not voting for a democrat anyway.

True, most people voting for the Democrat, have NO IDEA why.

This actually cuts to the core of a bigger problem:  Identity Politics.....that we are attracted to those who pander to our "identities" - i.e., gender, education, geographic location (southerner, northerner), economic status, religion, morality - than substantial policy.

The "Cult of Personality" is really a glorified phrase to describe the above.

It was started by the conservative movement in the 60's to get progressives to stop talking about public policy and class warfare - which was the public discussion until that point - and to talk more about "us" vs. "the other", i.e. "Real Americans" vs. the "un-American".

Thank you, Nixon.

Obama is popular because he literally does none of those - he talks about actual issues, not who is "more American/more Patriotic/John McCain's middle name" all the time.  :)

It's funny, because people felt the same about Reagan.

Reagan was an iconic "Cult of Personality" President, people loved the way he spoke, his mannerisms, everything.  But, you know, he wasn't a Negro.  So it was okay.

Yeah, I have no clue why I'm voting for the guy who has a plan for withdrawal from an illegal, unjustified war, or the guy who wants to reinvest the $10 billion/month we're spending in there back into the US economy to help create new jobs and build infrastructure.  Or the one who wants to create a new energy policy that will look at greener alternatives so we can be less dependent on foreign oil.  Or who will readjust the tax codes back to how they were in the 90s so that everyone pays their fair share rather than have the top 5% of the wealthy in this nation get a tax break in the dilluded believe that somehow their wealth will "trickle down."  Or that I want the guy who is smarter and has been solely focused on the issues in this campaign rather than the ticket that has been running a fear-based strategy hoping their attacks will scare people into voting for their same-old tired party.  Please  :bangin:

So which racist blog did you find this on?

It's written by the anonymous founder of "faithfreedom.org", a website dedicated to dismantling Islam around the world.  The dude who runs it has a list of things about Muhammed and offers a reward of $50,000 to anyone who can "disprove OBJECTIVELY" that Islam is not fake.  Which points immediately to his idiocy, as no religion can be "disproved", dealing with the supernatural the way it does.

People are getting desperate because a black man is about to be the leader of the free world.  I expected riots, so to be honest, I'm kind of proud of how everyone's dealing with it so far...through crazy essays like this and rants about middle names and socialism, rather than explosions and race wars.

Well done humanity  :)
