Watch out for you guys with allergies :\

SAGUENAY, Quebec - A 15-year-old girl with a peanut allergy died after kissing her boyfriend, who had just eaten a peanut butter snack, hospital officials said Monday.

Christina Desforges died in a Quebec hospital Wednesday after doctors were unable to treat her allergic reaction to the kiss the previous weekend.

Desforges, who lived in Saguenay, about 155 miles north of Quebec City, was almost immediately given a shot of adrenaline, a standard tool for treating the anaphylactic shock brought on by a peanut allergy, officials said.

An autopsy was being performed. Dr. Nina Verreault, an allergist at the Chicoutimi Hospital in Saguenay, declined to comment on the case.

The symptoms of peanut allergy can include hives, plunging blood pressure and swelling of the face and throat, which can block breathing.

Peanut allergies have been rising in recent decades. The reason remains unclear but one study found that baby creams or lotions with peanut oil may cause children to develop allergies later in life.

About 1.5 million Americans are severely allergic to even the smallest trace of peanuts and peanut allergies account for 50 to 100 deaths in the United States each year. Canadian figures were not immediately available.

omg.. thats terrible...

how stupid is her boyfriend.. he obviously knows she was allergic to peanuts.. wow..

RIP

ok woah woah woah how wus dude suppose to know man?

i mean if u threw peanuts at the girl nothing would happen, i would think in order to react to a allergy for peanuts you'd have to first eat them, this dude probably wus hungry had a snickers bar and next thing you kno this happens, i feel very very very very sorry for the girl loosin her life the waay she did, but im sure this kid will be scarred for the rest of his life cuz of this incident.

how was he supposed to know??

well.. im sure his gf would have told him when they first started dating.. that she was allergic to peanuts...

so the smart thing for her bf to do... no matter how hungry he was.. would have been to stay the hell away from peanuts.. or anything that had peanuts in it...

especially when he knew he was going to see his gf later on

omgg that's soo sad :cry2:
MAY SHE RIP

and i'm sure her bf regrets it...he made a mistake...
that he has to live with forever and i'm sure he beats himself up about it as it is

Omg that is sooooooooooooooooooo sad!!

Your right, kiss of death.

Jareh, may she rest in peace

I feel so bad for her bf.. jareh, he must really feel guilty, even he had no idea that would happen.

I don't think this is about blaming the "guy," but rather what most of humans do: try to find cause and a way that death could have been prevented. It's only natural to try and think of how this wouldn't have happened "if" only...

Yet, we can assume this was a VERY serious allergy; one that might come up in an early conversation. I mean, if they were only dating for a week or so, then of course, it's very possible he had no idea. But if he was a serious boyfriend, he most likely knew, but never realized that eating peanuts or even peanut-related food himself, and then kissing her, would cause such a terrible tragedy.

May she rest in peace, and may her family and friends find comfort soon.
