Suggestion to curve violence in Canada

I was thinking about this and I'm really begining to think this is the best way to go.

Commit a murder, be deported back to the country you came from! Simple!

Saves us jail space, and we dont need to worry about them coming back onto the streets because they're gone!

If you're a citizin of Canada, you should take an oath that if you commit any murder, that you accept your citizin be revoked and you become deported back to the country you're from.

This oath should be done for all new citizins as well.

If you're here under refugee status, you're no exception. You're deported and can never enter the country again. Just like if you were an immigrant.

I'm really in favour of this and wouldn't mind anyone with a law degree helpin me out on this to propose it to my MP.

What do you think?

I guess another idea would be, have them serve jail time in Canada. When thats up, then deport them.

I doubt that is going to make anyone think twice about killing someone. And even that, they're punishments in the other country might be less severe, so you are doing them a favor. Also, what are you going to do, ship the guy to Australias doorstep with a note on his crib saying "I commited a murder, put me in jail for 50 years"

Well no, the point is to eliminate them from our Country. You want to come to Canada, you better behave! Thats why the last line I wrote, they serve jail time in Canada before being extridited to their country of origin as another suggestion....

all murderers should have their heads chopped off like in the old days.. simple as that

What if the murderer is Canadian by origin? Where do they send them back to? Or what if it was an Assyrian but they were born and bred in Canada as where their parents. Where would you send them back to?

And deterrents don't work for murder because people don't murder with the intention of being caught. If for example the death penalty served as a deterrent, why are they still executing people in Texas and Florida?

You're right that it wont deter the murders. But at least our society can take comfort in knowing that person is gone. They loose their right to be Canadian.

Obviosly if the person was born Canadian, then theres no deportation. Those people would face the Canadian judicial system. But at least this way, we kick out all those idiots that come here and bring problems from their countries to our own cities.

I'm mainly talkin about those Jamaicans that bring their turf wars to the streets of Toronto.

well at least no one can ever call you draconian...

LoL nice plan Anki... I don't see it happening anytime soon. To deport them out of this country what good would you be doing? They'll only go about killing other people in other countries which probably have less severe punishment. Canada would be the land rid of murderers but every other country would have murderers on their hands to deal with. They could probably go join their other murdering friends and start plotting even far worse things against Canada resulting in terrorism. I say just lock them up in jail.. why send them out of the country? Isn't it enough they're locked up already?

What about appeals? Does he/she not have the right to appeal the verdict?

I agree with Kevin, most people who commit murder will not think about the consequences, they either do it in the heat of passion, or think they can evade the law. The only thing it could possibly help is the cost to jail the person, but again everyone convicted of a crime should have the right to appeal... right?

I think anyone who commits a second offense should go to jail and do hard time... period. Let them work for a living while they're in there... they can setup factories or whatever, let them manufacture stuff to pay off their debt to society and costs of imprisonment. Maybe even if they work harder, they can pay off their debt faster and be released from prison sooner (with limitations of course).

You simply can't enforce the law without making new ones.  Why?  Many of the gang wars ensuing in many countries, especially in the U.S. and Canada are direct results of local and state laws that have huge loop holes in them.  Why are Latin American gangs so prevelant in South Eastern states such as Georgia, Florida, and The Carolina's?  Apparently there is something attracting them there where these members can get away with just about anything.  There could be a civil rights law in that state that aids in anti-discrimination, but allows for illegal trafficing of drugs or other acts to be done simply of a loop hole in the system.  You can't scare them away with more jail time or incentives, that simply won't do.  If you give them an incentive, they might want to do more of it haha.  The laws have to be relooked at and reformed to make due with the changes happening in those areas of high crime.  I think this made sense.  Happy Easter.
