Std's: would you date somebody w/ one?

How about if you got married, and you wife or husband got Oral herpes from a CUP or a towel at the gym or some fluke.

What would you do then?

dude, i am coming over to the US, herps or no herps, makes no difference lool, We will Live....

Well i have seen many cases of Men dying from it...Not sure if their death was cuased by a combination of other STD's, or just herpsy, whichever way , it is no Game and no light matter.....

STAY AWAY from SEX.....Until u get married, and then find out your Wife has it

just to clarify--

herpes wont kill you unless you have a weakened immune system due to HIV and then you may develop herpes encephalitis which can kill you but only if the virus which lies dominant in sacral nerve ganglion travels up into your brain--herpes isn't the only one that does this---basically any virus will lead to this when your immune system is weaken

Herpes Zoster is another example---everyone who had chicken pox as a child carries the virus with them for the rest of their life and if they get a weak immune system can have it reoccur as herpes zoster

around 30% of children are infected with oral herpes (because they put everything in their mouth) and they wont die from it---oral herpes is Herpes Simplex Virus 1, there is no cure but there is a treatment to reduce its outbreak (Acyclovior)

genital herpes is Herpes Simplex Virus 2 and that wont kill you either unless your immune system is weakened due to HIV---same treatment will reduce outbreaks but wont cure it---

umm... no, i wouldnt date anyone with STDs. they have either been on the unfortunate receiving end, or have screwed around too much for my liking. thats gross. plus i dont have any STDs, why would I want be given something I dont deserve?

if it was in the past tense... and he HAD a disease... it would be a wishy-washy situation... my automatic assumption would be that he has been around and chances are... i wouldn't stick around... not unless i was sure of two things. 1: he wasnt dirty, that he made a mistake by sleeping with someone who is and the second being that i can be sure that he is no longer infected and realizes the importance of safe and smart sex and furthermore a committed, faithful relationship WHERE NOBODY WILL BE CHEATING (and spreading an infection to innocent little melly lol). but if it was something uncurable i would DEFINATELY have to keep it at a friendship and ONLY a friendship, to avoid being in a relationship and ultimately to avoid being intimate with that person in the future :bangin: THE QUEEN HAS SPOKEN lol

Just remember, love and affection fade, the burning sensation when you pee doesn't. If you really like her and whatever, make sure you double bag it, otherwise you'll be having the "honey I have something to tell you" coversation for the rest of your life.

Doesn't work.....Actually the chances of the condom breaking increases because of the friction.

My answer HELL NO

depends if he kept it from me...b/c thats lieinGGggggg

i dont know.. i look for men w/ higher morals..perhaps he didnt get it from sleeping around w dozens of woman.. perhaps he only had one sexual partner.. it all plays a role... it seriously depends..

i dont tink id want to.. bc i dont even believe in dating in the first palce unless its going to leadi nto marriage.. and i sure as hell dont want to catch an STD from my husband..

Here are some facts from my dermatology professor:

One in Two sexually active people have herpes (even sex once means you are sexually active). Sorry, but that means a lot of people on this forum have it and don't know it. You'd have a hard time finding a date. At least she was honest.
If it's controlled, protected sex will minimize the risks of transmission. If it isn't controlled with drugs, even protection will lead to transmission.
There is no oral-genital contact, and it's genital herpes, you won't get it from casual contact (kissing).
That girl sounded very responsible. I commend her. If it's casual dating you're after, she sounds like a good person, and you really don't have any risks.

you are mistaken---

1 and 2 people have herpes simplex virus 2--which is the common cold sore, fever blister, or sun rash (whatever you call it it is the same thing)
20 to 40% of children under the age of 5 have herpes simplex virus 2

20% or 1 in 5 people have herpes simplex virus 1 which is genital herpes
