Spotted a Massive Turtle at the William Granger Greenway trails

I was over the bridge resting and my eyes spotted something, and had to double check because it looked like a moving thing. When I looked, it was a big turtle! Easily 2 feet long. While I did take a photo, unfortunately the video I thought I took of it didn't come out as I had the camera in the other direction.

Of course it is not strange to find turtles in these places, but this one was an exception due to its size. I have crossed the bridged many times since and didn't see it.

I am referring to the Sarenhes Bridge , scenic pedestrian footbridge located along the Humber River Trail inside Boyd Conservation Park in Woodbridge ON

Such a cool find! Two feet long is huge for a turtle around here, and your photo shows how well it was camouflaged in those reeds — I can barely make it out in there. What a shame about the video too, the camera always seems to point the wrong way at the exact wrong moment. Hopefully it shows up again next time you cross the bridge! Was it just resting or basking, or did it move off when you got closer?
