Watching how Messi was putting on a show tonight, a fan invading the field to get to him, and people/media generally praising his amazing performance for this Copa, I couldn't help but get frustrated. At what? At Neymar!
While Messi has gotten Argentina to the 3rd final in a row in the last 3 years, Neymar can't even finish a game or tournament properly without getting suspended because of stupidity or inability to control his temper. And we know Neymar is capable of just as much what Messi can do (at least with the national team). By the way, just yesterday, Messi broke another record, becoming the all-time scoring leader for the national team.
My frustration is not just with Neymar himself. It is also with the (ex) coach and how he coached in general, which affected Neymar by extension. Not to mention his stupid decision to make Neymar the captain, which made it even worse for our best player.
But, with Tite, I hope things will change for Neymar and he can start to get fans love and admiration like Messi has been doing in this Copa.
Messi turns 29 on Friday by the way, just two days before the final on Sunday. As you all know, this will be his 4th final with Argentina (3 CA and 1 WC) and hopefully his drought continues. Not to mention, this is his 7th international tournament (4 CA, 3 WC) . Here is hoping Chile has what it takes to spoil the party once again.
