Sad news out of Syria

I regret to inform you all of the passing of Dr. Youkhanna from Syria.

He was one of the greatest men I have had the privilege of knowing and meeting first hand. He fought cancer and made a promise to live to see Kha B'Nisan before his death. He managed to do this.

I will post pictures of his funeral shortly.

Hearts filled grief and pain and to the music tunes funeral held the sons Hasakah province in general and children in particular in the village of Al-Tel Nasri and steal the precious Assyrian grieve Dr. Yuhna Hormuz who passed away after a bitter conflict with the disease.

كلنا نعرف الدكتور يوخنا هرمز الذي يتمتع بصفات نادرة وحميدة ، رغم انه رحل عنا ولن نشاهده أمام أعيننا لكن روحه في فكرنا وقلوبنا لأن هكذا أشخاص من المستحيل نساينهم وعزائنا هو بكلام مخلصنا يسوع المسيح ، كما تابع نيافة الأسقف حديثه وقال أقدم أصدق التعازي لجميع الآشوريون وأبناء الحسكة وكل من يعرف الدكتور يوخنا هرمز لأنه لم يعيش من أجل نفسه فقط بل قدم الكثير لأبناء شعبه ووطنه من خلاله مهنته الإنسانية مهنة الطب الذي عالج الكثير الكثير من المحتاجين وبدون مقابل ، وختم نيافة الأسقف كلمته طالباً من اللـه الرحمة لفقيدنا الغالي وشكر جميع الحضور الذي أتوا من كل حدب وصوب للمشاركة في التشييع .

Dr. Youkhanna was an MD (Medical Doctor) in Syria. He was also a proud and patriotic Assyrian. If I'm not mistaken, at one point he was living and practicing medicine in Europe, but for the sake of his people, decided to move back. I know of another doctor in Syria who did the same.

Dr. Youkhanna was truly a God send for most people. Often times, he'd treat them for free. Sometimes even giving his patients money to be able to buy their medication for the children (or themselves).

Real nice man! He will be missed greatly.
