Thoughts?

Ok, ok, I won't smirk, I won't gloat.  I'll be nice.

I can't help it!!!!!!!!!

I now know why Obama didn't participate in the town halls McCain called for earlier -- he's so compassionate that he wanted to spare him the humiliation.

And that last question (which I actually thought was a very interesting one), Mccain almost sounded Rumsfeldian -- "I don't know what we all don't know, which is what will happen in the future"

DAMN IT!!!

Congratulations ladies (baklwa, waleeta) Obama has Unofficially won!

This debate was supposed to help John McCain but he only stated the same things he sated in the first Debate, I really had high hopes for him too! I know seriously think Obama is going to just glide through these 27 days in a breeze and take the White House!

P.S. I'm still voting for McCain! lol

Jon, it's far from over.  Elections have turned in less time than this.  Anything can happen, and the polls are meaningless.  No one really knows what happens when people get in that voting booth.

Having said that, I do feel for your guy (though not his running mate  :chair:)

"I bet you've never heard of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac before this housing crisis.."

Oh McCain, I bet it was really hard getting that giant foot out of your mouth...

I dont know..I hope that things do turn around, but with the way they are moving now I doubt it!

I am now definitely over Palin! Sure she is hot, but a man can only take so much, and then realize that she is not ready for what we need now (but Obama is not ready as well!!) Well you have to look at it from a perspective of that if McCain had not picked Palin then his Campaign would have been over a long time ago and no hype like she brought!

Yes, yes, they can. Sadly, the last two times, not in our favor.

In 2004 I injured myself, severely, to the point that I was put on bed-rest for two weeks. I couldn't even drive; that was pure torture. I got hurt just a few days before the elections. I still voted, for Kerry of course, and had nothing but Bush-actually-won-another-term-news to watch while in bed. Misery.

I aggravated that old back injury a few weeks ago and a woman with whom I work is terrified and taking it as a bad omen.

I'm glad to announce that after much Cindy-McCain-style painkiller pill-popping, I am feeling MUCH better.

Pretty sure Obama is, too. He was just great. These elections *feel* closer than I'd like, too close for comfort. I'm still hurting from Hillary being out of the game, and I'd love to join my friends on this 273+ high they all seem to have, but not yet. This debate is nudging me toward the side of relief and optimism though. Scary.

Baklawa....seriously.  I know you're afraid to be happy...but seriously.  Blowout.

No, I can't, I won't, I absolutely refuse.  There is still one more debate to go.  I'd rather stay anxious and continue to repress any thoughts of actually, possibly.....no, I won't even say it.

The thing is this election is nothing like the 2 prior ones. Bush would have lost the 04 elections if anyone but Kerry was running, Kerry was carrying too much baggage and his secrets came out one after the other!

This election has drawn so many new voters its not even funny! the Obama hype is outrageous walk onto any College campus and you will see what i am talking about! At CSUf where i attend they have obama rallies pretty much everyday and for obama to rake in 18 million + new voters is also remarkable!

Obama was amazing tonight. He was mostly on the defensive. McCain kept throwing garbage at him, but Obama remained focused and addressed the answered the questions as well as cleared up the bs McCain spewed.

Is it me or did McCain come off like Gollum from the Lord of the Rings tonight?

I love how a Repub is convincing me the elections will go the way *I* want them! This is a good sign ... or, it's a trick.

I refuse to believe anything until I see some awesome blue action by 11:17 PM on November 4th!

I have a thing for numbers.

Well, my friends, if this election is not a blowout landslide for the Democrats they should seriously fold as a party.  That was a pitiful display by John McCain.  He truly shows how backwards he is in all of his thinking, mentalities, and plans for America.  If he was running in 1968 he may have had a shot.

Oh and one thing that bugs me to no end is the constant Republican heaping of revered God-like status on Ronald Reagan.  John McCain calls Reagan his hero.  Guess what John, Ronald Reagan hated you.  He even made the Republican party pull funding for one of your early runs for office.  Both Ron and Nancy hated you because you're a wife abusing jerk who left your first wife, who the Reagan's loved by the way, so you could marry the rich lady.  Oh and who was it that paid for your campaign's since the Republicans wouldn't give you anything?  Oh, right the rich lady you shacked up with after your first wife was too horribly disfigured for your liking.  So don't pretend you were friends with Ronald Reagan just because it's the trendy Republican thing to do.  You're a fraud.

Oh you went there!  I'm glad this campaign has (so far) not gotten personal, but at the same time I think the democrats deserve a lot of credit for not bringing up the well-known details of McCain's personal life, especially when they continue to play dirty with Obama.

"Remember a time when America..."

"Back when America was...."

"Go back to real American values..."

"The 1950's, when America was at its height......"

"Old-fashioned American values......"

...there is a reason they are called "conservatives".  Change frightens them.  They long for the days of America when women and blacks couldn't vote, when people were decent enough not to question the government or make a fuss about things like "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance, and pretend the "American Dream" is attainable by everyone if they just "work hard enough".  They "conserve", they hate progress, change, the future in general.  That's why they can only win elections through fear tactics and playing to our emotion rather than reason.  That's why they needed to create Fox news.  That's why they play the religious card.  That's why John McCain sounds like he's from 1968.  They are stuck there.

Eventually, they will either have to change the party completely or dismantle.  Otherwise, they are going to take America down with their anti-progress, racist, chauvenist, classist policies.  EVentually.  They almost got there this time.

Do you make more than $250k/year?  If yes, call me :shades:  if not, then quit pretending you understand his new tax plan because your taxes won't go up a penny.  Actually, if you make less than $200k/year, they will go DOWN.

Waleeta, my (much older) co-worker is like that.  Deathly afraid of any kind of change.  Even introducing a new software system at work has her in a panic.  So naturally she is absolutely petrified of Obama.  "You know, if he's elected, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton will be running this country."  Yesterday she said she read "on the internets" that there were some black youth in Mississippi wearing military gear and running around yelling "Obama!" Oh, and of course her television is permanently set to Faux News; she swears by Hannity.  How does one deal with such people?

Wait until they die while re-educating the youth through grassroots movements.

I.E., what Obama has been doing the last 2 years.

Aaaah....the future looks bright.  Goodbye, G.O.P....eventually...
