Popularity of our flag!

I finally have serious free time I can post something important...lol

--------------------------------

I was shocked today at work when one of my coworkers came up to me and asked me if I had been watching TSN after the Edmonton game. I told him yeah why? And he went on and mentioned about our flag asked me if I saw it.

It was surprising to me that this guy recognized the Assyrian flag. I think he had only inquired about it through the Assyrian Genocide Awareness Day 2004 (Queen's Park) once last year when I was showing him pictures of the event. He said to me, and this made me laugh, "I wanted to call you to make sure you were watching it. I didn't want you to miss it." Kinda reminded me of Assyrians how they call everyone they know when they see our flag.

The point of this post is simple. It seems more and more that Assyrians have taken ENORMOUS pride in their flag and the one last remaining symbols of our identity. Which is why, from now on, any sporting event I attend, be it a charity drive, baseball game, parade, I'm brining my flag!

that's good to hear...........I've seen plenty of assy flags at car dealerships, which gets me excited every time...........

One man's opinion.....to me I feel our rich history and the pride that that flag symbolizes.

I feel our nations pains and joys.

I remember our fallen martyers during the great Genocide and Simele.

The flag to me is more than a piece of cloth with a picture. To me, that flag is my life. I am born Assyrian and I will die an Assyrian (preferably drapped in the flag...lol [jk])

That reminds me. Last week, I was at Longo Toyota and well, everytime someone buys a car, they take a picture of them with the car and the salesman and they post them on the wall. I was looking through them and I saw one with an Assyrian flag on the new car. Hahahaha! That's classic...bringing a flag with you while buying a car! :giggle:

That?s hilarious?it?s like what could be a better way to celebrate or show your excitement & appreciation for the fine things in life than to bring along with you the Assyrian flag?makes it all that more memorable haha.  :ROFLMAO:

And Linda is right...If Latinos are constantly parading their flags around for the world to see, than why can?t we?  In fact, it makes perfect sense for us seeing as to it being quite an effective way of revealing our great heritage not to mention expressing our tremendous pride.

No offense to any one, but from what i've seen, their reputation isn't that great (especially the mexicans)?

Miranda, nice sig!

everyone is entitled to their own opinion.  i think its great that people are proud to be assyrian, I know I am, and to show it... we need to make our selves more known to the world.  everytime, someone asks me what I am and I say assyrian, they don't even know what it is

Pride is spreading world wide and the flag is a huge part  of it. It is a symbol we can relate to.
