So prior to the current system that we started in 2005, Assyrian Voice had a message board as well as a third party discussion forums which started in 2002 until 2005. Some may not know this but thanks to the Internet Wayback Machine, we have copies of these old discussions saved!

Some of you may think what is use of such old threads, but is is actually quiet fascinating to go through these old discussions, where we were talking about things that are totally irrelevant to today's world. For example, a lot of the topics from 2003-2005 were about the U.S war and invasion of Iraq, and the chaos that ensued after, including our people being victims of the new sectarian war.

You will also see a lot of discussions of things that we rarely talk about now, not because there is anything wrong with them, but because they have been talked about, debated and beaten to death since. Remember, in the early 2000s, the internet and online chat and discussion was still a novelty, so it was very cool and interesting to discuss these things. But now that everywhere you turn - even in your dreams- is a social network, it is no longer as fun or cool.

Although this was in the early 2002, lasting about 3 years, we still managed to have close to 1000 members, over 22,000 posts and some 5,000 topics in total.

I was looking for my responses as some of the topics would have usually had me commenting. Then I remembered that I was so upset with the way FIFA treated Australia for the 2002 World Cup, that I vowed to not watch a World Cup match, and I was just off internet chats and forums, etc. Of course, on the opening match, my friend invited me to he place for a BBQ and watched in amazement the Senegal team beating France 1-0 with their star, El Hadji Diouf. Needless to say, with that world cup being on Prime Time TV (Sydney and Korea/Japan are in similar time zones), I ended up getting into the tournament and cheered every team that Uruguay faced.

As for the forums, so many old names that I had forgotten about. Hiwone, Dingbat, WesternAssyrian. My name at the time was Primitive Man (A play on a famous Assyrian quote from 60 Minutes plus the fact that I had lived in Vanuatu).

A unique piece of history.

I had a nice little time travel up there. Such a relic. Was reading through the "Are you ready for the new world order?" Interesting stuff
