Need creative ideas: how to stop Somali piracy?

Hey guys, so as we know, Somali pirates are becoming increasingly lethal and dangerous, and are threatening world trade too.

Let us imagine you being put in a position to leas a task force to combat this piracy. Included in your disposal are navy ships and millitaty aircrafts which you can use to launch attacks against the pirates.

What would your strategy look like? Would you be proactive and attack Somali coasts where pirates operate from and destroy their boats?

Let us see how creative your military strategies are.

The best part of the picture is the one where one of the guys is wearing camoflage and a russian tank "Helmet" (helmet lining)
 
How about you get them jobs. That would cost you much less than deploying war ships, and causing casualties.  The pirates turned to the seas because they have nothing else to do.

Well only half true! Now that they are making millions, they wouldn't a job that can barely feed them. With the money they are getting now, they, nor their grandchildren, will ever have to work again.

But I get your point: if they had jobs to begin with, they may not have restorted to this in the first place.

How about working with the Somali government and provide assistance in shore patrol? In other words stopping them before they leave Somalia....
 
MX, don't see many suggesting bombing them yet, which may be why they are still playing freely. These are robbers, thrives and killers. Last time u checked, you dont shower people like that with flowers. Instead, you deal with them using force.

Otherwise, this will keep happening, until the world wakes up and realizes: what the hell are we doing ?

Last year, I was in a conference here with the Director of RUSI (Royal United Services Institute) who are a good defence/security think tank. Someone asked him about the Somali piracy problem, and he, Prof Michael Clarke said, and I quote: "Well, first we should look at all the banks in the region and their activity and also see how the globalised economy and all of its.. features.. has impacted on the local Somali one".

But no, lets scrap that notion and bomb the problems we create away.
