It's heeeerreee.....the event of the year, the AAS fund-raising gala, Narsai's Taste of the Mediterranean.  This year's event will once again be held at the glamorous Ritz-Carlton Hotel in San Francisco on Saturday, November 14th.

This year's featured speaker will be U.S. Congresswoman Anna Eshoo.  ?Anna Eshoo is a remarkable advocate for her constituents and for our community,? said Narsai M. David, President of the Assyrian Aid Society of America. ?We are extremely proud to be honoring such a great Assyrian.?

Another great success  Have heard from many people that attended that this was another amazing experience.  The San Francisco chapter of the AAS really does an extraordinary job of putting on a first class event.  Here's the report from http://www.assyrianaid.org/

With the eighth annual Narsai's Taste of the Mediterranean gala on Saturday 14 November in San Francisco, the spectacular series of gourmet dinners and auctions has raised over $1,000,000 for humanitarian projects in north Iraq.

Although the accounting cannot be completed until all outstanding payments are received and all expenses have been paid, preliminary figures indicate that this years dinner will net as much as $100,000, much more than enough to crack the Million Dollar Mark for Taste of the Mediterranean monies raised since 2002.

"This was simply an amazing evening," said AAS-A President. "Even with the economy in the ditch and so many families struggling, we had over 300 friends and supporters come out to show that they are behind us and the work we are doing. It was truly inspiring."

Guest of Honor U.S. Congresswoman Anna G. Eshoo was the evening's featured speaker. She spoke eloquently and emotionlly about her joy at seeing so many family members and friends in attendance, and she emphasized the importance of the Assyrian community here in the United States helping Assyrians in need around the world. The Congresswoman made especial mention of the Assyrian Aid Society of America and Assyrian Aid Society-Iraq as the recognized and respected organization for humanitarian projects in north Iraq.
