The greatest sporting carnival in the World is almost upon us. The FIFA World Cup, hosted by Qatar, running from 20th November, culminating in the final on 18th December 2022. 32 teams doing battle for the most sought-after trophy on Earth.
Will it be the Brazilians adding to their current tally of 5 World Cups? Will it be the Germans equalling Brazil’s record? Can the French be the first back-to-back winners since Brazil in 1962? Will we see a new team on the list of winners, such as Croatia who went down bravely in the previous final? Will the Dutch finally do it after being 3 times runner-up? Does our favourite team, Australia have a chance?
In FIFA World Cup history, there have been many amazing players who have graced the pitches. Super stars such as Bebeto, Pele, Diego Maradona, Franz Beckenbauer, Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo, Andres Iniesta and Andres Brehme have held the trophy as winners, while superstars such as Lionel Messi, Ferenc Puskas, Johan Cruyff played in the final but could not get their hands on the coveted World Cup trophy.
Who will it be this year? Which teams and players will shine, and which ones will disappoint?

Kheena, I had to give the article my flavour. I truly think a Conmebol side will win (yes, I was making fun of them in the other thread). The Europeans seem to hung up on whether gay tourists will be arrested instead playing football. The Australian team have come up with an embarrassing video criticising the Qatari government. When Australia was locked out and could not host any FIFA World Cup qualifying games, it was Qatar who gave them a home ground and training facilities and this is how they repay their hosts. The worst team, we have ever had and this was the only way they could remain relevant.
