Michael Nouri, Assyrian actor?

Michael Nouri is a character actor who has had impressively steady work over quite a long period of time.  Me, my brother, and my mom were talking about him right now and we came to the conclusion that his father was probably Assyrian (his name was Edmond) :) It may be wishful thinking but Muslims would never be named Edmond.  And come on, Edmond is such a favorite name among Assyrians. I think I have 5 cousins named Edmond lol.

Let's all e-mail him and tell him we're claiming him :)

Not all middle eastern christians are Assyrians.

For instance, theres a guy who does talk radio in the States (sci-fi buffs may know him) who's name is George Nouri.

He's Lebanese Christian, and no, not Assyrian.

But you never know. Doesn't hurt to ask I guess.

You're right, I know there are non-Assyrian Christian Iraqis :) That's why I was talking about the popularity of the name Edmond among Assyrians.  I know there's also non-Assyrian Christian Iraqis named Edmond but like I said, it's more of an Assyrian thing.

Jonadona, you're right..if his last name is Nouri he's probably Chaldean!

Barwarneta, it looks like the only way is through snail-mail :(  go to www.michaelnouri.com and click on "contact" at the bottom right.  We have to go through his agent. Someone could say they're also a Nouri, and wondering if he's a relative lol. However you ask though, I highly doubt they'd respond.

As far as his imdb page saying he's Lebanese...I dunno.  His wiki page is wayyyy more current and has much more information on it.

There?s only been one Assyrian who made it big as an actor and that was F. Murray Abraham.

That guy rules! Won an oscar and everything.

I remember a while ago an article was written about him and it said he was Syrian. I wrote the writer to correct her and I never got a response.

I have a lot of time on my hands lol.  But no seriously, I think it's extremely important for Assyrians to have exposure in the entertainment industry. Well, exposure in any industry, really.
