Ok, I'm the first to admit that screaming children sometimes make me want to do the same thing, but come on!

Wal-Mart Shopper Slaps Crying Child

A Wal-Mart shopper who became so angry about a crying child that he allegedly slapped the girl in the face appeared in court Wednesday.

Investigators said the incident happened Monday at the Stone Mountain store on Rockbridge Road.

A police report said the man, Roger Stephens, 61, of Stone Mountain, had warned the child?s mother, Sonya Mathews, that if she didn?t quiet down the child, he would do it for her.

According to the report, after the mother failed to quiet the girl, Stephens came up to them and slapped the child several times in the face.
The report then quotes Stephens as saying, ?See, I told you I would shut her up.?

Mathews then screamed at Stephens and called for security, the report said. Stephens was stopped by another shopper, according to the report.

The girl, identified in the report as Paige Mathews, 2, was not injured, but did suffer some redness in the face. She was treated at the scene and released, the report said.

Stephens was charged with cruelty with children in the first degree, which is a felony. He is being held in the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond.

Yeah, that was always my method.  I don't exactly have angelic children -- they're quite energetic and a little mouthy.  But they don't thrown tantrums and they know when to shut up.  Always good traits to have  :mrgreen:

What that insane old geezer did to the spoiled little brat is something some of us only dream of doing. Those kids can get really irritating.
I?ve noticed the ones that pull off such stunts in public are usually those that are all always misbehaving because they?re given too much patah by parents that don?t even know what discipline is.
Despite this, if an old stranger ever tried to do that to any child of mine & I couldn?t shield them, I?d probably set my child down & then try to slap them hard right back in the face before reporting them to the security.

if he's a jerk, so are all of our parents.  Don't use the double standard.  This dude just happen to get caught.  The amount of beatings (weapons included), that have been used against me and ppl i know would have landed my parents and theirs on the news so easily.  Just b/c our parents weren't caught doing this sh*t doesn't mean that they aren't jerks for doing it as well.

Not condoning beatings by our parents, but it's a little different when you attack a child of a complete stranger. 

Speaking of beatings by parents, I still remember (I guess that was the point) my dad slapping me so hard it sent me flying across the room.  He was taking a nap and my cousins were horsing around making noise.  He couldn't hit them, so I got it.

such american bull****.... i got my ass handed to me with closed fists and opened hands + belts... ive had my mom put out here cigarette directly on my hand when i was younger when i made her trip in the Jewel parkinglot... a little girl gets slapped and every1 across the nation gasps... kids deserve more ass whoopings, its very simple as each generation comes, and with each generation coming comes stupid ass **** parents for 1 and for 2 a more scared america for parents to discipline there kids, which is now why the generations of kids are so ****ed up, having sex doing drugs being in gangs all at the age of 9 and ****... more kids need more slaps all around the world imo and thats my campaigning slogan if i ever run for any type of office.... this world is so lost, and majority of it is so ****ing stupid.

If you want to put out cigarettes on your child, that's between you and child protection services.  This has little to do with beating your own child, it's about some random stranger coming up and slapping the crap out of them.

Ummm there is a fine line between discipline and child abuse...
