I believe in gender equality, but tell me if this is fair. It is a little weird story and I am sure some of you heard of it.
A man in Virigina was charged for being naked in his own home, after being spotted by a woman at 5:30 AM in the morning. He has been charged with indecency and public exposure.
Now although it is his own home and his privacy. and I am not siding with the guy for being naked. My problem is in the following:
-Imagine if the reverse was to happen: a man sees a naked woman in her own home. What would happen? you guessed it right, he would be charged. It is not like he can go to the police and say 'I saw this woman walking naked in her house, and I think it is inappropriate' Unfortunately, he would be charged then, not the woman. If anything, shouldn't she be charged for peeping into the guy's private home? an at that time of the day.
I am sure we have different roles and expctations for men vs. women in our society. But this is going a little too far I think. Come on!
Plus, if the man was being naked on purpose, so people can see him (which is inappropriate in this case) he would have done it at a later time, and not 5:30 AM in the morning where the streets are virtually empty. He would have done at, say 5:30 PM instead.)
This woman is a little weird, and the police should just dismiss her complaint. Unless of coure, the man has a history with this thing and likes to expose himself in public, which he clearly doesn't.
