Honestly you have pretty radical views. Could even label you as an ultra-nationalist.

BTW, the teenager had come from mosque then walked to the police station and shot the first person connected to police (the IT consultant) who walked out of the police station. He was shot in the back at point blank range.

From what I know, police were expecting an attack and 2 weeks beforehand this incident police had to keep their guns loaded on their desks at all times in the case of an attack. The police responded quickly to the incident and are now undergoing a full investigation.

The Kurdish teenager was born in Iran but is Iraqi Kurdish. He was not on any watch list and was not known to police. However, one of his relatives was known to counter terrorism police.

Shocked a lot of people here in Sydney. There aren't any problems regarding discrimination against Muslims so far, a lot of people accept that it is the acts of a radical minority.

Pretty shocking that it was an Iraqi Kurd considering the ones i know in Sydney are secular..

He was a radical Muslim. He killed because of his religion. At first I thought it was just a typical crazy (non-religious) shooter - Never had an Islamist in mind. Thankfully he didn't kill a lot of people. I wonder how he got his gun though?

He was an Iraqi Kurd? I thought he was Iranian? Anyway, it isn't that surprising either way - Aren't half of ISIS members Iraqi?

He came out of a Mosque, what a shocker probably radically influenced by his Imam.

Yes the media outlets reported him as Iraqi Kurd. So did the NSW police force.

I wouldn't say half are Iraqi. A lot are Baathi and Sunni Iraqis but don't forget a lot of Syrians and foreigners are a part of ISIS.

They're investigating where he got the revolver from. You're from Sydney as well, right Neon?

I just read that he was an Iraqi-Kurd who immigrated from Iran.

I know. It's just that, since ISIS has "Iraq" and "Syria" in its name and is located in those countries, it would be natural to think that most of its members are Syrian and Iraqi. Though I am aware that there are also Algerians, Saudis, Moroccans and such too. But are Iraqis and Syrians in higher numbers? I don't know...

I'm very close to Parramatta, as are most Assyrians in Sydney.

Fun Fact: Majority of Foreign fighters are Turkish and Saudis.

Turkey has a very extremely "fluctuating" society, in the same way America does.

In one hand, they have secularists, liberals and a pronounced westernized culture, and on the other they have retrograded, ignorant and conservative religious areas with dangerous people.

Of course, you'll still be more safer in Mississippi than in the most blimpish town in Turkey. But you get the point.

That's why, I could never hate on Turkey or America as a whole (what the world does). A lot of them are not bad, even though the most terrible kinds do come out from there (KKK, mass shootings, honor killings, Ottomans, etc).

Fairfield represent
Used to live there in the late 90s and 2000s. Good memories.

Now it's too overpopulated. I noticed that they're building a lot of highrise apartments (which heighten the population even more). They're trying to make it like another Liverpool, except its shopping centres are still not upgraded and are roughly the same size as they were 10 years ago. If you want to make higher density buildings then at least expand your shopping centres and make more parking spots. Loool

Are they Assyrian shops in Fairfield?

You lived in the worst times haha. That's when it was the most dangerous time and when no one would mess with Assyrians.

Lol really? It was rather endearing and peaceful back then (90s to 2005). I was around 7-10, and we used to play outside until like 9pm with no sense of menace or threat surrounding us. We used to walk 15 blocks to other neighbourhoods and meet up with friends (also around 9-12). Oh my god I'm getting nostalgic now....best days ever!

Okay, maybe it isn't dangerous now, or that it never was. But it is annoyingly overpopulated and crowded. On thing I mostly can't stand about it is that its newer population are Arabized Chaldeans (I know we had a beef over this). Right and left, everyone is speaking Arabic or a very Arabized Chaldean dialect. Back then, nearly everyone spoke Assyrian there.

Most Assyrians though moved out to the newer suburbs, to the west (Wetherill Park, Edensor Park, Wakely). So we're also to blame. Lol

This might sound creepy.. but what suburb do you live in now?

Wetherill Park & Edensor Park are still considered part of Fairfield City aha. I'm from the area itself, not Fairfield the suburb itself.

So you never knew any AK or Dlasthr? That seems so strange considering that's when the gang was peaking and when the high schools were filled with Assyrians.

I know that Fairfield City is a local government area, which includes all those suburbs we listed. Lol...But I thought we were talking about the actual CBD. Same, I'm also in that area, but not in the actual suburb.

I have heard of Assyrian Kings. But they seemed more like an urban legend. We never came across with them (nor anyone I know), and even if we did it's not like they would've targeted other Assyrians. They were gangs who probably preyed on gangs of other races. I don't even think that they aimed for ordinary civilians...

The only instances when Fairfield seemed dangerous was when we came across Bogan drug users, that seemed to show up at times. Never other Assyrians.
