Justices Weigh Parental Notification Law

WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court wrestled Wednesday with how to handle a New Hampshire law that requires a parent be told before a daughter ends her pregnancy, an emotional showdown in the court's first abortion rights case in five years. New Chief Justice John Roberts seemed sympathetic to the state, but other justices said they were troubled that the law does not make an exception for minors who have a medical emergency.

Whatchu think?

Very interesting topic. Abortion is murder, and there is not doubt about it. Parents should have a say on the fate of their future grandchild (of course, I am speaking from a socialist/traditionalist perspective). If they don't wish to help raise him/her, then they can always put him/her out for adoption.

As for medical emergencies, like ectopic pregnencies, that's a different matter. If the pregnancy poses a danger to the girl's life, then that pregnancy has to be terminated ASAP to save the girl's life. Otherwise, both the mother and child will die.

hmm i think the parents should be notified but at the same time i dont think they should have any say as to what will be done. the reason the parents should be contacted i think is just in case something goes wrong during the operation, and their daughter's life is endangered. however its the girls decision whether it be morally right or wrong.
