Australian Olympic Committee president John Coates today weighed into the Aussie-British Games showdown with a slur questioning Britons' approach to cleanliness.

Asked if he was surprised by Great Britain's good performances in the swimming, Coates said they had done well - for a nation short on pools and soap.

"Great Britain may have been in lane seven and eight but, um, they seemed to be getting there for a country that has very few swimming pools and not much soap,'' Coates said.

Again, this would be fun in a forum, not to someone representing an entire nation.  The Aussies should be embarassed for a guy like this.

You're right, we're more focused on winning medals, than chatting about the British, the mother queen is going to be upset about this.  Royalty will always hunt you.
 
Yeah, its a shame there's a Union Jack on the corner of their flag. They are still 25% ours. Still bitter? Ah well.

Us and the Brits have that "fun" relationship......that concept is foriegn to USA, they're too serious.....and trigger happy!

Pommie bashing is an art form.  They are not offended and neither are we when they Aussie bash.  Thank God there are some people with a sense of humour left in the world.

That's the funny thing about this.  They should leave the comedy to professionals, and tend to their athletic affairs.  Read the quote I posted above from the article.  The Brits call them out on it too :)
