Do you guys beleive there is any such thing as "Original Idea"
I don't think there is. No matter how original the idea looks or sounds, it must have been copied from something else. Sometimes the copying is done intentionally and sometimes it is done on a subcounsious level.
Let us take the "Internet" as an example. Sounds very original la? and it is. But it is only original in its specific form. But on its very basic form, it is not original. It is still a way of communication, much like telephone.
Let us use the phone as our next example. Phone sounds like a very creative and original idea la? yes it is, but if you think about it, the idea of a phone is to let people talk to one another over long distances. The specific idea sounds very original, but the general idea behind it is still not original 100%. The idea of a phone and its purpose can be traced back to the idea of "exchanging letters" which has been going on for thousands of years. The only difference is, with the phone it is quicker and instead of a plain paper, you get the actual voice of the person.
By the way, this is not only about technology. Even in literature. Shakespeare never invented "Tragedy", as it was there from the Greeks; he only reinvented it and added more flavor to it.
In fact, George.T.S.Elliot, the famous English poet once said something like this: "small poets borrow, big poets steal..."
So really, it is hard to find an original idea. Everything has been put for us from the beginning and we are only changing these ideas and making them more sophesticated.
Anyone beg to differ and preferablly with an example?
