...have you noticed the Kurds (EDIT: lol my spell check doesn't recognize Kurds) doing whatever they want without any serious problems?

They are able to pass a new constitution, ban Arabic in schools, somehow provide "autonomy" or whatever they call it, to the Assyrians (meanwhile they do not control Iraq to even give that type of right to them), and also selling off vast oil fields to foreign investors.

I ask you this, are we at a stage where we now have to finally acknowledge the existence of a soon to be independent state of Kurdistan (EDIT: But it does Kurdistan...strange)?

Debate!

I don't get it either.  I argue with an Arab colleague about this often.  How is it that Jews took a sliver of land, one with no natural resources and that many can argue they are historically tied to, and the entire region has been up in arms for 50+ years.  Yet these gypsies, with no ties whatsoever to northern Iraq, have taken over a region rich with natural resources and have taken every opportunity to give the rightful owners the finger, yet......cricket noises?  I'm stumped

Iraq will do nothing until after the general elections next year.

Besides, as a disenfranchised minority ourselves, we should support an independent Kurdistan.  Just not at the expense of other indigenous peoples.

I do support an independent Kurdistan.  Let them locate their actual homeland and build it there.  They tried Iran in the 40s and that didn't work, Turkey later on and that didn't work.  So they take advantage of a weakened Iraqi state to rewrite history and claim they are the rightful owners of our land.

One answer: because of they're religion.

Do you think the Palestinians would give a crap if an Arab state took over their land?  Hell no (the Jordanians already stole some of the West bank). They can't stand the fact that people of a different belief/race inherit "their" land.

Can you imagine how many bombings would take place if an Assyrian state was created tomorrow?

And they have been fighting dinosaurs for  a million years for Kurdistan.
Kurds didn?t even exist 200 years ago.

Anyways I?m not worried about them 40million and they still can?t manage to get a country.

I?m more worried about this propaganda of current Assyrians not being decedents of ancient Assyrians, people are publishing books about how we come from Arabia or that we are from the lost tribes of Israel.

Thats not the Kurdistan, which is know from history books, but more the 4 times bigger then it (just recently after the genocide it came to this size).

:giggle:

please include Israel in that map....Israel needs to decimate someone and it might as well be the kurds!

Only in Kurdish "history" books does the word Kurd appear 2500 years ago.  And only in Kurdish "history" books are Kurds "descendants" of Medes.

I'll be visiting the British Museum this week, I'll keep an eye out for Kurdish "artifacts" :giggle:

In my history book i find this, where Kurdistan is and from which time it is there
im a little bit confused  :blush2:

Don't look too hard, I wouldn't want you to miss the room after room after room of Assyrian artifacts.

One answer: because of they're religion.

There are three major religions in Iraq: Sunni, Shiit, and Kurd.

No one gives a damn if Kurds are Muslims or not.  The Arabs will still try to crush them.  But they can't right now because the US is running the show, which won't be for long.

Ok stop the jokes about Kurds and Kurdistan, because I think we had enough.

Beside that also if we do not like to see or hear it, in the news, in TV, in political discussion the name Kurdistan is often used.
I also think Assyrians need to realize that although we dont like the politic of their parties, we should try to seek friendship with normal secular Kurds.

Probably this one Kurd here is tryin to find a way to communicate with Assyrians, so give him the chance and stop the jokes.

I  believe you right, and you see how your friend are exagrating about Kurds  and Kurdistan, these doesnt give you any help to achieve your aim. As you said, in reality kurds are everywhere, maybe not in History but watch news only for one day, you will see how the world are using the name Kurd and Kurdistan.
