Is Halloween against Christianity?

Do you guys think Halloween, as a tradition and beleif, goes against Christianity? Maybe not so anymore, since we have commercialized it so much, it lost its original meaning.

Halloween, at its very basic and fundemental meaning means several things, but here is what I think it means:

"Satan tries its best to invade our life and souls, in order to deviate us from our path which God sets for us. Often, he fails in his attempts in doing so, so he has to come in other, more appealing forms, including angel-like forms. Once he adopts his new form, he comes knocking on our door again, in hopes of luring us into beleiving him. This time, he is able to fool most of us..."

Halloween is the same idea. In fact, it is an idea adopted by the Satanic Church in the US in the mid 1700s and 1800s too. The idea developed slowly and gradually until Halloween became what it is today.

So all these evil spirits, ghosts, witches and other populat Halloween figures may not be in accordance with our Christian faith.

Of course, few mention this shocking fact, because we think that children are too innocent to know what Halloween meant originally. So we just let them carry this tradition.

What do you guys think> what do you think is the original purpose of Hallowee?

I know tha Halloween is he day before All Saints Day.

I always compared Halloween to the Assyrian "somika" which Assyrians do before Easter.

Perhaps I have totally missed the point of halloween.

Ashoor, I agree with you, I think Halloween is against Christianity.

Firstly, Satanists, and they do exist, use it as one of their 4 main yearly festivals (along with equinox - and I can't remember the other 2) where they go to high places in cities and 'pray' (and do worse). If you think this doesn't happen, talk to my friend who was repeatedly abused as a child in these rituals.

Second, it makes light of the supernatural - all these cute and funny demons and witches - what's it teaching our kids? That demons and witches are only found in fairy tales and are make believe. If only that were true, but the bible tells us otherwise.

Finally, I'm not into teaching kids the whole idea of 'trick or treat' - it's the same as saying "give me something I like or I'll do something unpleasant to you" - do we want to be teaching kids this message?

My church put on a Hallowwen alternative, and it went down really well.

i can see both sides to this...but not everyone dresses as witches or demons. Some ppl dress as disney characters/angels/cartoon characters...i mean halloween isn't all about evil spirits...i always see little girls dressed up as princesses and stuff liek that. Children enjoy dressing up, and i don't think there's much harm done by that. i just wanted to point that out.

there are demons, but i don't believe in witches. however, i do believe in black magic. And they are little kids who, in my opinion, are better off thinking that demons don't exist. if i knew demons existed when i was younger i would be pretty scared-->but that's just me. I was always scared about everything...every night before i went to sleep i would lock all the doors in the house and close all the curtains/windows lol. now i'm only using this as an example...obviously not all children were like this. I think it's better for them to know about that kind of stuff once they mature.

don't get me wrong, i understand where u guys are coming from..but i wanted to point out the other side, too

i don't think satan achieves anything about us celebrating halloween. in fact, we make a mockery out of him/evil spirits.

**Ashoor--> the quote u showed i think refers to something worse than celebrating halloween....for example, demons/devil taking over someones body. I've read a book (based on a boys journal) and it was really scary. I was in 7th grade when i read it...and the night i finished that book i went to sleep by my mom lol i couldn't fall asleep :baby:
