List of candidates for slate 389 and their CVs
http://www.admzowaa.com/?page_id=1727

Voting locations
Detroit, Chicago, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco (specific locations TBD)

Requirements for voting
Iraqi national, or proof (birth certificate needed) that your father or grandfather was born in Iraq (mothers, of course, don't count  :ranting:)

It's what I heard at the rally last Saturday, but I'm hearing now that the maternal side may be acceptable as well.  The link that Sanhox posted said "parents and grandparents" not fathers/grandfathers.  That would be great!

Ok, I just watched a video of Alan Mansour, ADM North American represenative, and according to him if either parent/grandparen is an Iraqi national, you're good to go  :wavetowel:  Also, if you voted during the last election, your name will appear on the registry list so you may not have to go through that whole process.  However, please make sure to bring your ID and birth certificate with you just in case.

you know last time I still had my iraqi passport with my picture as a little kid.my name wasn't even the same as it is now. I  always wondered how the hell they allowed me to go in and register. it wasn't even official people doing it, it was just random youth signing me in.

Some encouraging news:

I was a receipient of a mass e-mail from someone who is a major AUA supporter and whose brother is an ACOE priest.  I had seen him at the rally for Rabi Yonadam Kanna last weekend.  Apparently that evening must have made an impact on him because his e-mail was one of the most sincerest calls for unity I have read in a while.  He is pushing to galvanize our area, calling for a meeting of ALL organizations and churches to ensure that we don't blow it this time and shoot ourselves in the foot (again.)  They're going to try and get a caravan together to take anyone who is qualified to vote to the polls.  FINALLY, people's eyes are opening.

Thanks for sharing Baklawa, that is amazing to hear. I have been seeing a lot of these 'change of heart' stories lately, and people willing to vote and be united behind one list. I hope it continues like this and gathers more steam up to the election day.

By the way, I also heard that the Chaldean church in Toronto will alllow 389 list to be promoted to its members. I don't have all the specifics, but that is some really good news.

It seems like everytime we are faced with a crucial election or period, where unity is required, outsiders and hidden hands tend to interfere in our affairs and manage to split us. Let us pray and hope that we have learnt from these mistakes finally, and not let anyone else come between us.

List 389 is our hope and people have to realize that.

are you allowed to share the email?

I was having a convo with someone last night, i was really sad to hear him say that he refuses to vote. He doesn't care what happens back home. I was so shocked!!

My biggest thing is this if you don't vote and do YOUR part who the hell are you to say no one else is? God forbid these people are being crooks but if we don't at least attempt to help out why talk ikhrai??
I had nothing to argue my point because he just simply didn't care. He wasn't the only one in recent convos that is refusing to vote.
We  need to get more people involved and help them see how important this really is.
like Ashoor has said before it takes all of 30 minutes out of your time WHY NOT just do it?? I just don't get it. =(

AB, I wish I could talk to this person and tell him why voting does mean a lot for him, as much as it does for those in the homeland.

I can't stand people who have taken so much comfort in the west and completely forget about the homeland. Sure, we all live here and have fled the country. But that doesn't mean you completely cut all ties from your homeland. Why don't we have a grasp of the concept of sacrifice. Our people are staying back home and ensuring our identity is not erased from history. All they need from us here is a simple vote. Yes, your vote could be the difference between a free Assyria or a Kurdified/Arabized one. Now that is huge.

And for those who don't care for voting, I can't wait to see the day where your answer to the question of 'what is your background"  is "Kurdish Christian"

So go ahead, skip the vote. While at it, change your identity too, because you are probably not worthy of being Assyrian.
