Inspired by Jacob -- Assyrian Americans and Circumcision

I wanna first thank and condemn Jacob for leading me to start this lol. What is your take on Assyrians and circumcision, from like family, cousins, etc., those are kids now and were born in America over the last few years, were they circumcised? Is it generally healthier? do you have any idea how Assyians generally deal with this matter when they have boys here in America or what they think about the whole topic? Thanks.

I'm so proud that I could provide such inspiration for an AVN penis thread.  My circumcised wang is also proud and says hi.

I can't answer the questions here cause I have no info on the subject.  I've known both and from what I gather it was just family preference.

haha! I doubt people are going to be brave enough to share.  But who knows....maybe Jacob has opened the door for others.

Brave enough? Let me be one, and also props to the anonymous friend of mine whose sister was more than brave enough to tell me her toddler cousin was, and then went on to say that all her cousins were and that her brother was the odd man out lol! I indirectly posed the topic once to her brother who said he only knew about 2 of his cousins, who he said he he assumed they were not lol (I guess there was 1 thing about them he did know haha) and then confirmed his own state as his sister had. Another good friend of mine was actually brought up the subject and said he was not, and his sister added that she thought the practice was unknown to Assyrians and Chaldeans and perhaps only the assimilated could practice it. Props to them. In my family, the practice is totally unknown, although I am the only male born in America, and a cousin also has 2 sons but refuses to state their state lol. Someone told me all Assyrian kids born in America are. I know th parents of about a dozen non related kids and all indeed are, including the friend's cousin being one.

Zowaa740, can you please edit your title so people know what the topic is about without even opening it. You can still leave the 'inspired by Jacob'

ASHOOR

I edited it Ashur, and Hanuni, yes apparently so, although this is not about teenagers or elementary school kids like back in the Middle East but rather newborns born here.

why!

Good question Shekwanta, I still do not have a decent answer to that lol and one answer might not be enough of an answer, but the girl who told me about her cousin said it was a health and hygiene issue in her view and she thought boys who stay the way they are born are not good for their health and aren't clean, and that her cousin doesn't urinary problems and is clean is because he is curcumcised!

okay, am abit "nkhapa" about this subject!
but i would like to say that.....my brother isnt "circumcised",,but mashalla he is good! doesnt have any problems!,,its not that important right! i mean not everyone has to be circumcised!!!..
actually in our family, when someone is circumcised...its usually very weird! and they start investigating!!...why did u do that! where when! who!! etc etc.  :angelnot:   :blush2:  :)  :bigarmhug:

Shekwanta, I also feel very "nkheepa" about this subject, and still feel 99% not right, but the 1% pushed to post this lol. Circumcision is taboo in Assyrian culture in the Middle East, Australia, Europe, and in most Assyrians in Canada also. In fact, complicaitons from circumcision are more dangerous than not being circumcised. Your brother is a normal person and a normal Assyrian. No Assyrian has to be circumcised and as you said it is more important when they are not. Nobody in fmaily is circumcised. Only one Assyrian I knew, his sister told me her cousins were and that all Assyrian kids born in America are, but in our family it is not done.

Here in Europe, circumcision is for muslims and jews   but I know that in the US it's very common and the majority is circumcised... it's too weird  :shades:

All Assyrian kids born in America are circumcised? No, they're not. The doctors ask the parents if they want it to be done or not.
If I ever have kids, I won't have them circumcised. I'm not Jewish or Muslim.

Seriously?? You've run out of that many topic ideas that you wanted to know about peoples private parts? Lol

We should start another thread about people shaving their balls.

It's not that I've run out of ideas, it was just a wierd topic I always wondered about and Jacob inspired me to start. Sorry if I offended anyone or made you feel a certain way due to the subject matter. Also, Royalty, you are very correct, and I stand with you. I was discussing a certain convo I had with someone and their assessment that like four fifths of Assyrian kids in America are. I do not know that for a fact and all Assyrians kids are not, my famiy is an example of that. Also, Hispanics, many Europeans, Indians, Armenians, Chinese/Japanese, and probably other races also present in America still forbid this.

The health reason are partly right and partly wrong. Previously it was believed that the foreskin did not have any functions but of course research has shown it does have many health functions. First of all it gives you more pleasure during sex, being sensitive. It has a function of protecting the glans just as eyelids protect the eye. It keeps an optimal temperature for producing sperm etc.

Very true Hanuni, these are all very true, although the other members of my family are opposed to it simply due to tradition, but the person who I had the conversation with had one set of ideas, and if I could, it would be interesting to share my set of ideas with regards to what you mentioned which I have studied extensively before. J Steven Sloboda is a very wise man with a lot alarming and true facts.

lol Bookta my 13 year old cousin asked me last night if Assyrian girls shave down there like how White guys say White girls do or not. I grnned and reponded that he might have just inspired me to add another bizarre sociallly oriented thread on an Assyrian web forum.
