If we get our country, our Assyria. Would you move there? How will it stabilize?

The thing is right now in America and Sweden and other countries there are construction companies which make plans and build things on property. If we were to have a country, the property is just out there. It wouldn't be owned by anyone. Also there wouldn't be construction companies to actually build a gas station or a law firm or hospital.
face it, its up to the new generation to "re-build assyria" other wise...we r not doing anything now...soooo!

Trust me the new generation is like hopeless. They barely even speak it at home, they're not gonna wanna speak it publicly and move countries.

You're wrong bro, if assyrians plan to come back, big international companies will see that there are a lot of opportunities and they will invest in this new country to make big profit, it was the case in ex-yugoslavia, all the big profit sectors were invaded by western companies even if it wasn't very stable and a high level of income...

Oh wow never thought of that. It's true, so the only thing is it has to have a proper government, name, etc.

The reconstruction of a country is a huge source of profit, why do you think western countries invade yugoslavia, iraq,... to rebuild the country and once again enjoy the wealth of the weakest. If they see that a lot of assyrians from diaspora come back in this region (even if they are old, if they have money with them, it's ok), you will see a lot of companies but if assyrians don't invest themselves in this region, it will lead to poverty like in armenia

The only thing we need now is an autonomy/province to think in the long run and if we can have our nineveh plain province, maybe in 50 years, we'll see beth nahrain or assyria rise again  :)

It is the dream of every suryoyo/othuroyo but the right to land is really hard to get and especially if these lands are relatively rich in oil

The problem with tourism is that our ruins are located far enough from each other, so we have ruins throughout iraq, in fact the major part of our ruins is outside of the nineveh plains (I think there are more mesopotamian ruins outside than inside), don't forget also the instability and the fact that tourists are less interested in cultural visits but more by beach sunbathing... Armenia is also a good example in this case, they also have ancient ruins of the armenian civilization, beautiful landscapes, a lot of ruins outside of armenia (in turkish territory)... but no beach and relative instability  so no tourism

All the tourists will be assyrians like in armenia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tourism_in_Armenia

Well tourism for us I think would be different. Armenians aren't as rich in culture and history as we are. I mean, we speak the language of Jesus. Do you know how many people can say that? Just us. We were one of the first people to become Christians. We were the cradle of civilization. We made the first code of laws, the first wheel, the first and still correct calendar, etc. It'll be 2nd in line or maybe even 1st in line to Jerusalem for the Christian tourists. As for the investing, I'm almost sure people will invest because a lot of our people are rich and smart, but I don't think many will want to permanently live there. As for me, id love to go to a place and speak nothing but Sureth, so our language doesn't die out.

Btw for the autonomy issue, did you hear about the protest going on in Iraq right now? It's on a thread somewhere here that ASHOOR posted. About 4,000 people are protesting about their political parties. Syria is probably next. We just have to hope we can convince maybe the US or all of the UN to take away a chunk from each of the borders of the Diaspora.
