We all know there are other ethnic groups who are make up the (Assyrian) Church of the East, most notably people from India. And that is what I noticed for the first time ever! Yesterday, there was a big group of Indians at the church, to baptize one of of their kids. There must have been 20 of them, if not more, and I couldn't tell if there was only one child being baptized or more. It was beautiful to see actually.
This got me thinking: since I have only seen Assyrians attending our church, my entire life, what would be like if we start to see Indians attending our mass on a regular basis? I will be watching in the coming weeks to see if they come again, and I do hope to see them. Having said that, and with attendance at our church often exceeding the seating capacity of around 470 (by up to double if not more at times) , will we finally see a new Assyrian church being built in Toronto, with this current church having been the only one since 2005.
