This bias has never been more obvious than this summer, with the Copa America and Euro happening simultaneously. If you think this will die down with the eventual retirement of Messi and CR7, you are in for a rude awakening. While you could argue that these two players elevated the rivalry to a new and more toxic level, the intensity will likely persist.

Just minutes after Spain beat France to advance to the Euro Cup final, I came across a post on Facebook. The caption read: "Better than both Vinicius and Mbappe combined," comparing a Barcelona player to two Real Madrid players (even though Mbappe has yet to play a single game for Real, lol).

I think we are about to witness one of the nastiest and most intense El Clasico seasons, with all these young stars, in addition to the big names already on these two teams.
