How developing the Assyrian music ?

Post your wishes/suggestions. And once this thread is long enough, forward it to your favorite Assyrian singers/musicians.


Mine would be
More fantasy, modern lyrics, stop stealing music, more instruments, less synths, A WIDER VARATION OF STYLES, spice it with rock man "more fun".
 
I just wanted to comment on what i was reading here.. I agree with more fantasy, modren lyrics etc.... and i dont agree with WIDER VARIATIONS and a ROCK SPICE.
our music has its own SPICE my friend, and if u change the SPICE of it then it doesnt become ASSYRIAN MUSIC anymore. just like u wont change the
SPICE of ROCK& ROLL or JAZZ, BLUSE music. so pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee stop asking our singers to be ROCK or RAP or JAZZ or spanish singers,
we have our music lets stick to it but as u say MORE MUSICIANS less SYNTH and most of all our singers should go and aducate them selves,
dont they feel EMBARRASSED when they sit and talk with foreigners about music? dont they get stuck for words?
how EMBARRASSING is it when they dont know anything about music? how embarrasing is it when i tell my friends about "3alasaas" our great singers like
Aghasi and others that they are our best singers YET they dont know even wht key they sing from. ohhhhh i can go on and on and on but i'll leave it to that.
i hope 1 day we will advance a little, God bless us and help us all :)

I would like more traditional instrumentation and actual Assyrian musicians playing them.  I don't hate having a keyboard or other western instruments in the mix but please use them in the background and for the basic rhythm.  No more continuous synth drum rolls please and no more synth zorna solos.  This isn't the late 80's.  Nothing beats real zorna & dahola driving a song.  Janan has been getting better with this.  Have you heard the zorna on his last album Kholma Sharira?  The first track especially.
 
Let me think. The bass guitar need to be more deeper LOL.
I cant stand the electric drum it be nice if they mostly use real drum set naturally because I don?t like the fakeness of those sound of the drum. I like the keyboard that a good one.
Um more up-beat like how Hamo and Nadhall Hanna do even there not in popularity except Hamo because I think he speak a different language a suryoyo guy and I guest sometimes he sings in Arabic I don?t know LOL   but yea that?s how I like it because that how I like it hehehe LOL they sound a bit like dabke, cause they make it sound very fun. Party song going on. I think the lyrics by words that?s they sing need to sound like the words are dancing if only I could explain LOL. I guest they should barrows some other middle eastern instrument maybe like what Jordians or maybe Palestinian play just don't know the name of it but something that play to Dabke. Maybe some real orchestra like how some Arabs do, not this keyboard simple that sound  a bit like the orchestra because it sound pretty fake but I do like the middle eastern simple that are play on keyboard but don?t give me wrong I do like zorna too and plus that drum it look like one of those big marching band bass drum just don?t know the name of it LOL but they should do that more. And plus more new singer. And I do agree with more and more triditional intruments. :)

I can't believe you mentioned Aghassi in your rant.  He's probably the most educated Assyrian/Persian singer, musically.

Harp? I think it might have to look like the harp of UR right? LOL.
Well, I think it would sound nice in slow Assyrian mawal music, I think it would sound really nice in harp. :shades:
 
For me, it'd have to be less of the dawoola zoorna. I hate when they make it so loud and annoying...where they over any other instrument that is being used.
