From all that I have gathered last few days, these are Brazil’s worst heartbreaks and upsets at world cups:
-1950: nothing tops this and in fact if not for this, you can argue there is no Pele and the 1958-1970 generation and the 3 world cups
-1982 loss to Italy any you could also argue this one is what led to the start of the shift towards more pragmatism and emphasis on defence. And just like the above, this is like what led to. The 1994-2002 generation.
-2022 QF to Croatia: this one is at an earlier stage than the two above but stings a lot for so many reasons, most important of which is the timing of Croatia’s goal. And as I mentioned yesterday, I strongly believe the pain this loss has caused and will cause for years to come, will lead to Brazil winning the cup, I have no doubt about it, sometimes in 2026-2030.
Don’t know if anyone of you has read a very popular book by billionaire investor Rat Dalit, titled Principles’ , in which he states that ‘pain + reflection = progress’ . We know this pain has caused and will cause huge pain for Brazil for a long time. But if they reflect on it, and by that I mean find the mistakes and correct them, that will lead to great progress = winning the World Cup.
Do you guys agree with these 3 being top most painful losses for Brazil, worse than what we experience in 1998 final or the stretch from 2006-2018.
