Good Friday

On Good Friday Christians commemorate the passion, or suffering, and death by crucifixion of the Lord, Jesus Christ. Many believers spend this day in fasting, prayer, repentance, and meditation on the sacrifice and agony of Christ on the cross.

So, you might wonder then, why is Good Friday "good?"

The Perfect Sacrifice

Romans 14:9 "For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so He might be the Lord of both the dead and the living." (NIV) It is "Good Friday" because it is the day God accepted Jesus Christ as the perfect sacrifice for our sin. Acts 10:43 "...everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins through His name".

He Died For Our Sins
Good Friday is a time to celebrate Jesus and what he did for us. What HE did for OUR sins. God loves us unconditionally and we should tell him that we know that we love him too. It's good because now no Christian has to die because of their sin.

The Ultimate Act of Love
Good Friday is "good" because even though Jesus suffered, he did it for us, to take away our sins. It?s the ultimate act of love. What could be more "good" than that!

God's Provision
It was 'good' for it was God's provision for those who are 'not.'

Jesus' Sacrifice
Jesus' sacrifice was enough to cover our sins once and for all time, because only his blood atones.

He Saved Me Although I'm Not Worthy
Good Friday was good because on that day, He saved me although I am not worthy!

Good to All
Good Friday is one day humanity will never forget, for a King, a Prince, to abandoned everything, come and die , means that we are precious and peculiar.

Christ Became Sin for the World
On that dreadful day, the pure, innocent Son of God became the very image of sin, as it is written: "Cursed be all that hang on the tree." (1 Peter 2:24) On that day, even God the Father turned His face from His own Son. "Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani" (Matthew 27:46)

Because It's the Good News
Besides the explanation above that good came from God, good for Good Friday symbolizes the Good News that Christians are supposed to pass on...the news that Jesus died for our sins so that we may be forgiven. This was his gift to us, and we've been told to go spread the Good News that we have been saved through his death. Today he dies for our sins and on Easter he rises to eternal life.

Earth's Darkest Day
Good Friday is the day that God, in the flesh gave his own life freely to be brutally murdered by His own creation, to save them from the sin they were too spiritually blind to see. It was Earth's darkest day because of what it took to save mankind from their disease called sin. The sin that man suffered at that time, and still suffers from is, in itself, an ugly, gruesome, horrific thing which produces a horrific death. Jesus Christ took upon Himself all that hell could inflict upon him, the most horrific death that has ever been inflicted upon any man; and He, Himself became that sin.

Good for Me
I firmly believe that when Jesus died on the cross, He died to pay for my sins. It is the only way that I could be freed from sin's penalty, therefore, it was good for me.

Great Post, allow me to use it for one of my presentations at church... I like the way you presented it... very straight forward and true... :yourock: :yourock: :yourock:

Indeed, when we put things into context, the Sad Friday we used to live, turns into a Good Friday if not a GREAT Friday.

Good Friday marks the re-birth of Humanity. It is the day we are Reconciled with GOD and Transformed from Darkness to Light. What a Glorious day it is.... :2hearts: :2hearts:

Thank you and Glory to God!

These are some of my favourite bible verses..there are more. I have to say that the Bible is my favourite book.

THE LAMB
John 1: 29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

THE DOOR
John 10:1-2; John 10:7-9  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.

Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.

All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.

I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

THE LAMP
Isaiah 62:1 For Zion?s sake I will not hold My peace, And for Jerusalem?s sake I will not rest, Until her righteousness goes forth as brightness, And her salvation as a lamp that burns.

John 8: 12 : 'I am the light of the world.

THE FOUNTAIN OF LIFE
John 19: 33-34 But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs. 34 But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.

THE TRUE VINE
John 15: 1-3, 5 ?I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away;[a] and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
?I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

THE BREAD OF LIFE
John 6:35, 48 And Jesus said to them, ?I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.
" I am the bread of life".
