I know this is not exactly new, but I just saw it at the local indie theater and loved it.  This Oscar-nominated film is the first in a trilogy, capturing the life of Genghis Khan from his early years up until he unites all the Mongolian tribes under his leadership.  The film is in Mongolian with English subtitles.  It's brilliantly shot and the storyline enthralling. I'm already looking forward to the second installment.

Highly recommended: 9/10

Yeah amazing stuff - if you are into the history, try and pick up this new trilogy of books by Conn Iggulden. Masterful writer.

The first one is called Wolf of the Plains and was released last year, the second is called Lords of the Bow and is out now, and the third is Bones of the Hills and should come out next month I think. They chronicle and dramatise Genghis Khan's life from his birth. The first one deals with his childhood.. and I've never seen a harsher one.
