I always hear people saying "listening to classical music make me so stress-free and relaxing for the mind..."

Lately, I decided to listen to it, and you know what, it is quiet relaxing. It is something different from everything else you do in your daily routine. It actually releives you from thinking or worrying about any aspects of your work, school etc.

Try it.  For those living in Toronto, tune your dial to 96.1

Ashoor, I listen to it all the time. I love classical music.

I can't get enough of the Nutcracker soundtrack  :giggle:

I even study to classical music sometimes, as long as its mellow and soft.

yanni and classical music in one post? comon you're just asking for it..... do ppl take yanni seriously??? yanni as a musician is kinda like fabio as a model.....

Classical is amazing.  My father got me into the music when I was 5 or 6.  I loved it ever since.  It is quite relaxing and your mind tends to be much clearer and more focused after.

Thank You Joe.

Before I start, I want you to say that my favourite piece is Albinoni's Adagio in G minor, been so since the day I heard it properly for the 1st time 12 years ago.

DOWNLOAD IT HERE

I have been listening to classical music for many years now, and I agree with you Ashoor that it's quite relaxing, depending on what sort of music you listen to of course. I wouldn't say that listening to some of Beethoven's work is exactly relaxing.

My favourite period of classical music is Barogue, Albinoni, Bach, Vivaldi, and Handel being the main composers I listen to from that era.

Finally, the greatest composer in my opinion is Tchaikovsky, if you can, get your hands on a copy of Swan Lake, or any of his other ballets Sleeping Beauty & The Nutcracker.

I was fortunate enough to attend the Royal British Ballet's performance in Sydney of the Swan Lake around 10 years ago. It was simply amazing to listen to such powerful yet beautiful music live.

i love listening to classical music, especially when i'm about to lose it!!! and i have a lot of those moments :(

How can you say that? He's a genius. He doesn't make music like most classical composers. His imagination is different than the rest.

^Yanni isn't a classical musician. He's like a new age, instrumental pop type, even though he denies that (look man, there's nothing wrong with the term "new age", it's a beautiful genre).

Now I like classical music. It's sort of like art for the ears, but I wouldn't say that it's exactly my cup of tea as the music can be too random at times. I prefer more consistent type of music that's revolved around one melody or two and is somber in tone. Like these two:
