NEARLY half a million dissident Anglicans are on the verge of rejoining the Catholic Church in a move their leader suggests may be the beginning of a flood to Rome of millions of Anglicans worldwide who oppose gay and female clergy.

Vatican officials are believed to have recommended to Pope Benedict XVI that he accept the Traditional Anglican Communion under a special category, and an announcement is expected in April.

West Australian Catholic newspaper The Record yesterday reported the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith has decided to recommend to the Pope that he create a "personal prelature" for the TAC, which leading Anglicans confirmed.

Reunion would be the most important advance in Catholic/Anglican relations since 1553, when "Bloody" Queen Mary briefly returned England to Catholicism. The mainstream Anglican Church is also holding discussions with the Vatican, but they are not close to union.

If the Pope agrees, the TAC, which has a large number of married bishops and priests, would answer to the Pope but keep their existing structure, clergy and some elements of Anglican identity. At present, the Catholic Church has only one personal prelature, the ultra-conservative Opus Dei.

The TAC's primate (global leader), Adelaide-based Archbishop John Hepworth, said yesterday: "We are quietly and optimistically waiting for an answer. All 60 bishops accept the role of the Pope, the Catholic catechism and the traditional claims of the church, and want to be part of it."

The TAC has more than 400,000 members in 41 countries, and is not in relationship with the mainstream Anglican Church. In Australia, it has about 1600 members.

Archbishop Hepworth said if the Pope approved, the TAC would be a beacon for Anglicans around the world dreaming of doctrinal stability and unity.

Representative of the disaffected Anglicans is Father Graeme Mitchell, who is hoping to join his fourth church, but says this time "I feel like I'm coming home".

Married with two children, Father Graeme began life as a Presbyterian, followed his mother to the Anglican Church, and in 1987 was one of the founders of the breakaway Anglo-Catholic Church of Australia.

This year, Father Graeme ? parish priest at St Mary the Virgin in Caulfield South and registrar of the TAC diocese of Australia ? hopes and prays he will join the half-million other former Anglicans as a full member of the Catholic Church.

His disillusionment with the Anglican Church began mounting in 1987, when the Melbourne synod made the Catholic sacrament of confirmation optional. "It seemed to me a betrayal of what I'd been brought up to in the Catholic faith," he says.

Slowly but surely we will  take over the world! lol Pope will be the new world leader. Sorry the Catholic in me is coming out. lol

This IS the Religion section.  This has nothing to do with Christian application and everything to do with religion and spirituality.

On another note, I'm not surprised.  The poor Anglican church has been hit hard.  I've been to one of the Church's that still hold fast to Biblical teaching, and I liked it.  This just sets the stage for another prophecy to be fulfilled.  Hold on folks', it will be a fast ride!

That's because I moved it here from the Politics section genius.

Like I know it came from politics, genius.  I don't care to check the other areas, but thanks for the insight.  Glad to see you care.  You are very kind.

P.S. I'm joking. I don't want people who don't know me to read this and think I'm serious. lol

I totally agree about our Chaldean church that's one of the reasons I like going to other Catholic churches. All through elementary and high school I went Catholic school and we would have mass at least once a week or few weeks. I honestly got more out of that than our church. Chaldean church here isn't that bad but we still lack spirituality like you said. I see it changing a little bit which is a good sign.

all three heavily rely on Traditions and Clergy to carry out the entire Load of the Church which is why those churches always struggle in the Spirituality area.

No church can ever be perfect, but if we As Christians who know what's right from wrong, can encourage our brothers in other churches, no matter how wrong they are, there is always hope....I always pray for people who attend Catholic churches that may GOD lead them to him despite all the difficulties that they face!!!

Knight, the Chaldean Catholic Church worries me Greatly. Not only its lacking so much in Spirituality, but they are heading into a totally different direction and they are changing the face of Christianity.. For them, its no longer about the Trinity but they have added our Blessed Virgin Mary as the Fourth member of the Trinity and given her the Role of Salvation, forgiving of sins and so on.....

I don't get how clubbing has anything to do with church? Is it because you guys jump up and down and scream a lot? I'm not even trying to be funny i know churches that do that..is that the kind of church you go to?

This reminds me i haven't been to a club in a while. Meh I'm going out of them anyway.

P.S There is nothing wrong with going to a have a good time and shaking your ass with a bunch of your girls.

Eddie how about you come back to the Catholic church? You know you want to.

Meh. I know the Chaldean Church at times lacks spirituality but you are taking a little to far. They aren't trying to make Virgin Mary as the fourth member of Trinity we just see her more important than you do. Seriously Christians from other sects need to get over it. They have nothing else to say so they always bring up Virgin Mary.

Follow what ever you. No one is forcing you to believe in anything you don't want to believe in.

No those are the Pentecostals.. they love their Rock & Roll  :wavetowel: :wavetowel:

At my Church we Sing hymns and Spiritual Songs...Great joy and a great feeling. I have invited many of my family members who are Catholics and they loved it. The only thing they didnt like about it is having to listen to a speech for 45 min, all about the bible and quotes from the bible. that was Forigen to them as they are used to Traditional masses.

P.S There is nothing wrong with going to a have a good time and shaking your ass with a bunch of your girls.

Yes, tell that to Lovemoon  :giggle: :giggle:, well it does look like by the time i am in Toronto, you would have gotten over the Clubbing scene

Eddie how about you come back to the Catholic church? You know you want to.

I have believe me.. many times, but i got kicked out for trying to encourage worshipers to bring a bible to church and read from it as well as preaching to them, one priest even said to me " well dude, if your going to preach around here, then what Am I here for? "

In Catholic Churches, only Clergy and Qualified people are allowed to preach, and if anyone has any questions about their faith, they must only approach a priest to get a one sided Answer that they give in accordance to their church beliefs.. that's not good enough for me lol

Dalida, i know what i am talking about, and No this is not an attack on sects or trying to Stir up an old issue... i am too Good for that.. I say it as I see it, and I have seen it and heard it as I do Attend some of their masses from time to time.

I want people in all Churches to Wake up and Rise, there is nothing better in this World than living a Christian life.... don't u agree?  :angelnot:

There are saved people in the Catholic Church, yes they have strayed from the Word of God...but they are still a member of the Body of Christ.  I've been to a couple of Catholic Churches that still preach the Word, and you know the Holy Spirit dwells there.

God uses differnent parts of the body to get to different people.  Though the people have split so many times, God always takes our bad and turns it into good.  The same with the Anglican Church, though they have strayed even farther, there are still a remnant of Godly people lifting God's Name on High.

I don't like to get into arguments, I just try and show Scripture and pray that the Holy Spirit makes the person right.

Dalida, if you like to go to the club for dancing, I get you!  I know what you mean.  I love dancing myself.  But when you taste and see God at another level, truly, you won't have that desire anymore to go to clubs.  You'll just want to dance for God alone.  Study King David, he loved dancing for the Lord.

I think it's great you have found a place that is more for you. I truly do. We all have different ways of practising our faith so we go to a church that fits us best and what we believe in. That's why there are so many branches of Christianity. I don't see anything wrong with that. You go to your church and i will go to mine. Just as long as we respect each others faiths this world would be a better place. Instead most of us judge each other because we think our way is "better".

Lovemoon doesn't like clubs but that is her choice. I don't blame her, I'm starting to don't like them as well. lol If you come to Toronto and you want to go i will take you. Just don't preach at the club once you are drunk.

To be honest i get a little pissed off by people coming to tell me how to practice my faith, it's annoying. Who knows the bible better than a priest or his clergy? So i could see why people would go to them. I know a lot of girls and boys who go to the teachers who teach Saturday school for answers about the bible. The Bishop never had a problem with that.

Look there isn't one universal way of practicing Christianity. We aren't ALL going to be the same. We should all just do our best to follow our faith as best as we can.

I agree there isn't anything better than living a Christian life but that doesn't necessarily mean living your way and how you see what a Christian life should be. I live my life the way i practice my personal faith.

Why does God have a problem with me going to clubs? I don't do anything wrong. Is dancing a sin now? So once i see God in another level i will only want to dance in my room for him? We dance at wedding, parties, and picnic. What's the big deal about dancing at clubs? How do you think goes on there? If you know yourself and know what your morals it doesn't matter where you go it won't change how you behave. Look honestly i know you mean well but i just don't see things the way you do.

Are you talking about King David here on the forums? He only goes by David here. I heard he is a great Salsa dancer.  Sorry I'm just joking.  :bangin:

Dalida, please notice the tone you are using with me.  I'm starting afresh here.  You don't have to use that "believe in the Bible as you do" type of talk with me.  Everybody wants respect, and I'll give that to them, however, I expect the same too.  I'm sure you wouldn't like me talking to you that way, so the same here.

The Word of God is and should be Authority to any Christian believer.  The more in depth you go, yes, you do get to "another level."  Do not put words in my mouth and say I said the Catholic Church is evil.  Did I say that?  No.  There are many evil, as you call them, Evangelical churches too.  The Church is made up of broken, sinful, people.  And as long as the Church doesn't follow the Head, which is Jesus, then yes....they will go down the wrong path.

Did I say it's bad again?  Please refrain from assuming what I say.  I just said, when you go more in depth of knowing and experiencing God, then you become more like Him.  Dancing is a very fun thing to do.  You can dance, by all means where ever you wish.  But what I noticed from going to clubs was that they were filled with people who are FAR from God.  The more I experience God, the more closer I want to be around Him and His people.

I started to understand what it means to be sanctified.  God totally changed my heart, where I just want to do things for Him alone now.  He wants all of your heart as His Child.  There is only One Seat on a Christians heart, and it should belong to God.

Christians may have struggles, especially in a club, and it weakens them.  Drinking, seeing all those cute boys, having them check you out, and anything else like that.  Trust me, I've had my share of dancing for boys and have them drool all over, don't you think I liked it?  It's a powerful, and very, very dangerous thing.  And I saw that, the more I got to know Jesus.  Now I want to only dance for God.

Sanctification, when allowed, is mind blowing (for the better)....literally.

The word evil was said as a joke, hence the "lol". I was referring to you saying Catholic have strayed from the word of God which means we aren't practicing the word accordingly. If how you think i replied to you was disrespectful than i apologize it wasn't meant to be that way. I think because of your other post i prejudged your reply and what you meant. I hate that i do that because that is what i dislike the most, people judging  and talking down to each other.

So what you are saying is that the Catholic church is not following the Head(Jesus)? Correct me if I am wrong.

You are always going to be around people that are far from God. It could be at school or work. You shouldn?t stay away from them. I think being around people aren?t believers and still sticking to who you are makes you a better Christian than only sticking to people who are exactly like us. I have many friends who aren?t Christians and we are like family. We have a mutual love and respect for each other as humans, our faiths or lack of never changes. For me I don?t need to be around ?Gods people? to be closer to him. I actually think we are all Gods people so everyone will bring me closer to him if that is the case.

I don?t get weakened at clubs but I understand what you are trying to say. I don?t have struggles or stop myself from living my life because it will weaken me. I just stick to who I am and if I make a mistake I learn from it. I would rather live and learn, rather then live my life by looking at things as struggles or in fear I will stray from God.

At the end of the day....faith in Christ and the Holy Trinity is what matters, through any church.

I've been to a few different churches, and i must say, if you have faith in Christ, ur attitude towards sects changes...you don't care about which church you go to, as long as you grow your faith in Christ and according to the Holy Bible.

Criticism is good, but intentionally disreputing other Christian sects is not Christian-like behavior.

So why do these denominations exist in the first place? They clearly disagree with the others and think theirs is the right way.

Oh no, I forgot. It comes down to power and authority again. Silly me.

I agree. This is why i say everyone should have the right to believe in what they want without people trying to change their minds.
