Did you vote? Post pictures, comments, observations here ...

it took me only 15 min, told the arab women that she cant ask me what city I am voting for, because we can vote for whatever city we like , once she senced that I did not like what she was asking me, she just agreed and let me go

saw too many arab people just hating the fact that kurds are taking all over.

Polling station belonged to an Islamic something centre( for sure they know where the money has to go)

most of the people who worked there were arab and qurdo, and 3or 4 Assyrians ONLY.

my husband was so close to fight with the arab worker

kurds hate arab because they are A power, arab hate kurds because they are just greedy and want more than 1/2 of Iraq... little they know , we cant stand them anymore, because the lands are claiming to be thiers its OURS.

I have  a headache, from pulling my hair, because our people are just ignorant

Good observations tears. I had no problem whatsoever. Only issue was too much ink in my finger. Wouldn't mind wiping it off and going to vote for a second time in Hamilton, but I thought that would be cheating so I didn't bother.

And I agree, some of my passengers were being asked some very stupid questions like "where is your betaqa tamweneya (food ration card?" loooooooool. This was asked by a female Kurdish official. The Assyrian lady's response was "why do I need that here in Canada?, I never lived in Iraq when the ration card was being used" Suffice it to say, it was a stupid question to ask to begin with, and the Assyrian lady made her feel even stupider!

Ashoor, :)

All it took was a couple of minutes and three alcohol swabs and it came completely off.

I dont think mine will come off soon, it looks black not purple, I forgot my finger there for a minute or so, as I was trying to hide 389 list paper in my otherhand, last election they asked me to get out because its not allowed to have any list's   paper or add on you.

You work for Ishtar Tv and you voted for 389? LMAO. Damn someone must be confused. I'd probably take a couple of days off from work for a while and lay low.

Bro, let us move on please. I am just happy for her voting for 389, which I am sure she did out of her belief in 389 and what it stands for. And I won't get into the details of her work for that TV channel. As much as I don't like that channel, I don't think her working there means that she necessarily agrees with every agenda of that channel.

Im not confused  Yet, beside I do not work for them full time, I will work as long as they allow me to say what I want and what I find it important now. if they dont like it to have some1 working with them and have different political views, then I wont stay.

I believe these elections did so much more for us than to just put Assyrian representatives in the next Iraqi parliament:

1-It helped show our pride
2-Strengthened our pride in our nation and leaders. We are not a nation that is ashamed of displaying pride and national emotions
3-Got those who were never interested in such political issues, or don't care, to actually get involved and have fires of nationalism in them now.

I was confused when the lady asked me that question wasn't sure what we have to put, but the lady she wrote Duhuk cause I was born in North Iraq, but too bad I should've asked them to write Baghdad instead of Duhuk.

They wrote Kirkuk on mine since my dad's from there, but they said all the candidates of ADM fell under Kirkuk and I could vote for whoever I wanted. From what I understood, if you're from somewhere that's different than the candidate, you can't vote for them. Or have I misunderstood?

Many employees were Chaldean Catholics but refused to speak Assyrian when I spoke Assyrian to them and spoke English or Arabic instead.

That wasn't necessary CA. It really does project injustice to other members of the Chaldean church, not mentioning the hatred it provokes.

Where's the injustice and hatred in what CA said?

What he said was the case in Sydney as well, the very few Assyrians that were working would only speak Arabic, and when i asked them to speak Assyrian or English they would try their hardest to stick to Arabic. (And yes to be more specific they were Chaldean)

davidb, unfortunately, I am a member of the Chaldean Catholic church, I say that reluctantly these days because of the bad leadership, but that doesn't change anything.

A comment like that will provoke hatred towards the people as a whole! The fact that "Chaldean Catholics" was mentioned is wrong. This isn't the first time too.

We need to be more careful of what we say.

I understand what you're saying but you have to realise that many Chaldeans do prefer Arabic over Assyrian, and it's something that should & would anger any Assyrian nationalist, regardless of what church they come from.

What I'm saying is it's something that is especially an issue for Chaldean Catholics rather then ACOE Assyrians.

Many Assyrians (including the Chaldean church) today also speak in English rather than Assyrian. In fact, when i speak to CA, i always speak in English. Why doesn't that bother anyone? Are we not speaking in English now?

Most members of the Chaldean church grew up speaking Arabic, and that's the language they are comfortable speaking with. I would rather them speak sureth too, but hey... I wouldn't show up to an Assyrian at Burger King and order my meal in Assyrian now would i?

It bothers me because i don't know how to speak Arabic!!

If we were living in Iraq then i wouldn't complain, but we live in Australia. They(the workers) should be able to speak English or at the very least attempt Assyrian. They shouldn't just assume everyone knows how to speak Arabic.

Well, not everybody thinks that way mate...although i support your idea, I simply cannot force people to speak a certain language, it's ridiculous!

Anyway, i still do think the comment was inappropriate, am I allowed to say that? lol

Knight, I didn't mean anything bad by my comment. Why would you say I am projecting hatred?  You know me well and know that I don't hate anybody, its not in my nature to hate anybody let alone my own Assyrian brother or sisters. I don't get how you could accuse me of hatred when you know that is completly false and unfair.

My comment had nothing to do with Chaldean Catholics religiously; I just wanted to make the point that the election worker I spoke to gave me a bit of a hardtime initially with registration. I spoke Assyrian and was responded to in Arabic and I asked for English or Assyrian and the person who registered me did not have strong English skills so responses were in Arabic. It is not my fault that I cannot understand Arabic ... I have to understand!

Either way, in the end my dad asked me why I didn't speak Assyrian and I said 'What?! I did' and he said that the Chaldean lady who served me had asked by I didn't speak Assyrian so it turns out she must not have heard or understood me. It was just a misunderstanding.

I don't hate you Knight  :bigarmhug:.
