Did you know this about Romario? He is the only one to have done this!

Just realized this , but Romario is the only Brazilian player (and likely globally) that has played in the final of all these four tournaments :

World Cup (1994)
Copa America (1989, 1997
Confederation Cup (1997)
Olympic Gold medal (1988)

Unfortunately, the gold medal is the only one he couldn’t win! Ronaldo and Bebeto got close, but they had to settle for bronze in 1996 Olympics.

Dani Alves was able to win 3 of these 4, but he missed the big one: he never won a World Cup!

Bebeto and Romario won Silver in Seoul1988. Brazil lost to a very skillful USSR in the final. 6 years later, Romario, Bebeto and Jorginho got their revenge in the opening match of USA94 when Brazil defeated Russia (containing other Soviet players) who had also played in the Olympic final 6 years earlier.

I just realised that Bebeto was in the squad and played in some of the earlier matches in the 1997 Confederations Cup. Back then, coach Mario Zagallo preferred to Romario-Ronaldo partnership and after Brazil drew 0-0 against Australia (with Bebeto, without Ronaldo), Zagallo went with his preferred partnership of Romario-Ronaldo for the final against Australia, denying Bebeto this unique piece of history.

I also just realised that by the time Messi won a Copa America, they had replaced the Confederations Cup with the Finalisima, which I am sure Messi played in.

I remember the Olympic 88 Games in Soul cause Iraq made it there and had a decent team beating Guatemala 3-0 and drawing 2-2 with Zambia and were on their way to the 2nd round before Italy decided its time to rig the Games- so they lost on purpose 4-0 to Zambia.

Brazil lost the final 2-1 to the Soviets, Romario was a Rising Star!
