Christian party officials killed in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Gunmen ambushed members of a Christian political party, the Assyrian Democratic movement, in the northern city of Mosul on Tuesday, killing two of them and wounding two others, a hospital official said.

The attack happened in northeast Mosul as party officials were putting up posters for the December 15 parliamentary elections, said the official at Jamhouri hospital.

The killings come a day after gunmen killed a top Sunni Arab political activist, another sheik and their driver in Zaydun, west of Baghdad.

Sheikh Ayad al-Izzi, an Iraqi Islamic Party official, had been involved in the upcoming elections and the development a new Iraqi constitution.

makes me sick.

to get 150 people together to protect the right of that martyr from Baghdeda, from which the kurds stole his vote back a few months ago, was a monumental task. now he's dead, Allah Manikhleh, at 19.

to get 3,000 people to hear Sargon Gabriel caterwaul for the 50,000 time about dikhwa and that little brown haired girl with the yalikhta from the tooraneh, takes nothing more than a wake-up.

remember your brothers and sisters the next time you all fantasize about being black or hispanic.

How sad and frustrating. Yet another sacrifice by our people and Zowaa in Iraq. Yet people will still put Zowaa down.

Anyways, I will leave the politics to where it belongs. For now, I ask God that he gives them the rest and place they deserve in heaven.
Let us also pray for their families.

And if you really feel for their death, please do your effort and vote in the next election. That is if you can vote at all of course. If you can, these martyrs would love to see you go and vote. They gave their life away for this. We should appreciate that and vote.

I ask the same thing all the time, and the answer, sadly, is that as long as hate exists within our people, it will never end. Hate is what they product, market, and sell in Iraq, and some of us HERE keep buying it. Killing, death, and violence in general, never really solve problems, and our poor young men are evidence of that. They die, and yet no progress. So some of us have this idea that if we kill the enemy, all of our problems will disappear. I'm not sure why I, as a very angry person at times, can understand that violence is not a easy nor effective solution, and yet others, that are more calm or at least less "hot-headed" than I am, are always thinking, "Kill, kill, kill!"

I would love everyone to listen to Ashoor's advice and VOTE. It's one small yet meaningful way to show support and respect.

God bless these young men's souls, may they be forever remembered for their bravery and courage. May their families find comfort in the way they lead their lives, trying to help a struggling people find its way home.

Alah manikhloo ana sah'deh et umta atoreta.

I hear so many stories of Assyrians living in peace with Kurds, arabs, and other ethnic groups in Baghdad, but the North is so fragile. But of course these stories were before the war. It is not amazing to see so much hatred now. I only wish that one day peace can be reached and voting is the first major step.

May they rest in peace, and may God help their families in this difficult time and give them patience.

What hatefull views...Islam IS a peacefull religion. I just posted a picture of a potential martyer for their cause. No different than you or anyone else posting a picture of Mar Benyamin or any other Martyer for the Assyrian cause.

Are you now saying YOU'RE offended by my remarks that Islam is a peaceful religion? Can you do me a favour and keep your hatefull views outside the forum.......

What I said earlier was very clear, no need to repeat myself here.
