I was curious to see where Brazil played in 1994, other than the final being in Pasadena and some other games too. Here is what I got:

Group Stage
1. Brazil vs Russia – Palo Alto, California 2. Brazil vs Cameroon – Palo Alto, California 3. Brazil vs Sweden – Pontiac, Michigan

Round of 16

4. Brazil vs USA – Palo Alto, CaliforniaQuarter-Final
5. Brazil vs Netherlands – Dallas, TexasSemi-Final
6. Brazil vs Sweden – Pasadena, CaliforniaFinal
7. Brazil vs Italy – Pasadena, California

**Match-to-Match Travel
1. Palo Alto → Pontiac ≈ 2,390 miles
2. Pontiac → Palo Alto ≈ 2,390 miles
3. Palo Alto → Dallas ≈ 1,460 miles
4. Dallas → Pasadena ≈ 1,430 miles
5. Pasadena → Pasadena (semi → final) = 0 miles
Total Approximate Travel≈ 7,670 miles (12,340 km)

I know that generation is 31 years removed from today and in fact most played on the current roster weren’t even born. But it just lends to the fact that both Brazil’s geography and climate is not too different from the United States. So the wide variations in climate and distances, if it is going to favour one team, it is probably Brazil.

Don’t get me wrong, this tournament is no cakewalk , especially when compared to the one held in tiny Qatar, where there was virtually no distance or climate worries to speak of. I know the Brasiliero covers large parts of Brazil so there is a lot of travelling, so this may benefit players from that league?
