We were discussing this on Chaldean Chat the other day, and I was wondering whether you have ever heard of any Chaldean/Assyrian having their son(s) circumcised, and second, why someone would do such thing. Thanks.

There is no proof to that.
No proof that its healthier??  Well let me clarify.  It's MUCH MUCH easier to keep clean, which in turn is healthier.  Can we agree on that?

It also reduces the chances of urinary tract infections in young boys.

Maybe I overstated when I said "significant" health advantages, but there certainly are advantages.

All I have heard is that it prevents UTI's and is a good deterrent to AIDS.

The only advantage it has is easier to clean, and if you don't clean your thing on reguler basis you're bound to catch an infection (Cut or not), but it happens more with the uncut because the foreskin releases natural liquids that need to be cleaned by pulling the skin back.

Having said that the foreskin was put there for a reason, in my opinion this reason is a sexual one because I know a few adults who wish to take back their adult circumcision, but with those that have it done at a young age they will not tell the difference because they will not experience the good pleasures of the foreskin, so to them it won't matter.

Also in terms of religions Jews and Muslims do it, Jews do it when the baby is 8 days old (It's called a Bris), and the Muslims do it when the kid reaches a few years old but there has been cases where they do it a couple of days after his birth (They call it Tahara).

As far as Christians go, we don't have such thing but many Christians do it, here in North America (In the US at least) the majority of babies are cut when they're born, in Canada I believe in 50/50 while in the central and south american countries it's not that common, the same thing goes for Europe and most parts of Asia that don't follow Islam.

Assyrians are the same, some do it for the sake of health and others don't pay too much attention to it, but I believe most Assyrian kids born in the US do it.

I also have heard (though I should emphasize not seen, except one) that most Assyrian/Chaldean boys born in the US (especially CHI/DET and East Coast)getting chopped, but Iraq I never heard!!

I perform circumcisions on a regular basis...it is not only the Jewish population that gets it done, almost everyone does, however, before doing it we have to consent the parents and let them know that there is no medical indication in doing the circumcision.  This is purely cosmetic....there is a mixture of people that get it done, with the population I work with they are mainly hispanic...let me tell you, not a fun procedure to do at all

much easier to keep clean??  how so, its just an extra layer of skin

to me, it wouldnt matter.. i'd let my hubby decide..

The question is if the process itself is equally weighed out by the so-called health advantages.

How much more safer is the child on a regular basis vs. going without the procedure?

I must say, I'm not an expert here.  But it seems to me that people who havent had it done are not at an infinitely greater risk of some infection than those who have.

And furthermore, we all know its not for health reasons.  These health reasons are an exaptive of the religious duty, they're not the primary motive.

Not to mention where some cases the foreskin gets tight and you can't even even pull it back at all.. I wonder how nasty that can get. I've heard a lot of locker room talk about that in high school guys talking about painful urinations and a bunch of other nasty stuff.

My mum was gonna get it done on me when I was a baby, but (like all mums) sh was worried and didn't want it to hurt me! (even though you don't feel a thing??)

and TBH I see all your points but the advantages aren't all that good - as long as you're a clean/healthy person then it wouldn't really make TOO much of a difference if you had it

I had this done like 3 years ago I think. :giggle:

Hurt like a bitch. Actually had some complications afterwards because of it. Instead of the one month healing, took me 2.5 months to fully heal.

For the guys that want to know what it was like, imagine something as big as a tangarine was shoved down your urethra and just sat in the shaft of your penis! Next, you have stitches allover but unfortunately, do not cover everything causing you to bleed consistently for 2 months straight.....

SUCKS!

Had to bathe for a few months, could barely walk, peeing was different lol....simply put, having done it as an adult with a fully grown penis, I will NEVER let my son (if God grants me one) remain uncircumcised before he becomes a full grown adult. I'm getting it done early while there are still fewer nerve endings and it is far, FAR less painful than as an adult.

---------

For those wondering why I did it, I had to medically. The skin would no longer pull over the penis. It was not cosmetic as some guys like to go out and get. I dunno, I don't think I would go through that kind of pain for cosmetic.

WOW. Just reading that made me cringe. I'm not a guy (thankfully), but OUCH! I hope you're okay now!!

Medieval technique that shudnt be practiced anymore, and other then much of north america is thankfully not being done. If you teach yer child to clean himself properly circumcision has no point. They're however, numerous accounts of the operations going wrong. Either they cut too much skin, where the person experiences pain whenever an erection occurs or they cut way too much and try to play the bloke off as a girl. Just something that doesn?t need to be done. No health advantages, and hurts a lot more than it helps.

is it medically proven that removing the skin deprives a person from Sexual pleasures in their adult lives? or will their Sexual life be affected in any way?
